Please spare me your armchair psychiatry. I have no reason to wish folks ill. But the fact remains that the only tangible result is more pay for these folks. I mean, how is the cafe lady getting paid more going to affect education? Again, I'm POSITIVE they deserve it, but little johnny still can't add two and two.

Teachers? Hell yeah, they get the brunt of this.

Better benefits and pay are good for all.

You are concern trolling and implying that this whole step towards progress is going to be only used for monetary gain. Your whole argument is that these people only want more money, and they will do nothing else. You see them in bad faith based on personal beliefs and not those people's actions.

Having pessimistic viewpoints on future events is a type of delusion. it's best to either be optimistic or say I don't know. Because the more negative beliefs of the future we hold the more it will affect our outlook on the world and our actions.

I was fascinated with this place years ago and made several YouTube videos when the old mausoleum was open (human bones everywhere). I ran into one guy trying to clean the place up and I knew he was fighting a losing battle.

It would take some serious money to clean it up and I don’t think anyone will ever come through on it. What will end up happening? No idea but there are graves literally all throughout the woods and up and down the hills. Probably some they aren’t even aware of!

Right, letting property you own can easily result in greed, but not wanting to pay for things even if it's your fault as a tenant is just another form of greed. Someone can sign the cleaning checklist at move-in, not even attempt half the things at move-out, and then automatically expect their full deposit. Someone can break things and we let it slide and then one time we charge them, we're just a greedy landlord.

We don't struggle with pests much, but everyone assumes pests are just the fault of the dwelling when it's like are you leaving food all over the place? Are you not telling me about a water leak because it seems small and now it's attracting pests? And the stuff people think you can flush is mind blowing. No, sorry, you can't dispose of kitty litter or that massive ball of hair you combed out. Or people still somehow think flushing paper towels is OK. We talk to people about it before move-in, it's in the lease, and still we're amazed by the new things people come up to try and fit down a toilet. But if it's clogged, it's the plumbing's fault and the owner should pay.

My dream renter is a dual income family with kids. Two sources of income, reason to stay for a while.

I would ask your PM for a break down of what the specificities of the application fee were and consult a lawyer about it.

Something doesn’t add up but I’m not a lawyer so me advising you taking it to small claims on your own would be unwise.

I will say that someone earlier posted a link to VA code and I would dig through that as well

Call Russell at Staples Mill Auto Service. Fast, to the point, no guesswork. Always has been helpful and honest to me, the only time he couldnt figure out what was wrong out of the many times ive been he didnt charge me a penny.

Back before 2020, we had monthly or bi-monthly meet-ups with our horror book club and movie club. Unfortunately build outs and events for our haunted attraction and escape rooms have taken all of our time... plus the pandemic shut things down for a while. Maybe we can try to bring it back around in 2023? There were some horror trivia nights last year at Strangeways Brewing. Join the RVA Horror Club and I'll see if we can have a movie night sometime soon...

I like Carroll’s Auto on AA Blvd and Patterson. There is often a bit of a wait to get seen (usually no more than a few days) but they’ve always done good work on my cars and I never get the feeling that they’re trying to upsell me on anything.
