Thanks to all the reassuring stories here! The appraisal actually came in last night and it was at slightly above contract price. Feeling very relieved!

Back to the office after a week and a half of WFH. I kinda miss my coworkers so I'm not mad about it.

A Child's Place in the Short Pump area is good, so their location in Midlothian may also be good.

Yep, I stick out when I open my mouth. One might think a "different" guy would be a commodity but women I know generally want a guy with a pick-up, local family ties, and conservative views.
There's a lot to like about this area but I am looking forward to my kids finishing school so I can move elsewhere.

My wife and I went there for the first time and got some dirty chai lattes. With tip is was $21. And to me, the drink tasted like soy sauce. Never going back.

Reply to Landlord wants to raise rent by $100 a month. Do these numbers sound fair? by Ill_Temperature_4654
I’ll preface this by saying that your landlord is nickel and diming you and that really sucks, but is common. The short answer to “can they charge us this?” is “yes.”
Raising the rent by $100 isn’t out of step with what’s common and is allowed by law, and I honestly don’t think your rent seems that high these days, especially for a house in Lakeside.
You’ll also never be able to prove what fair market value of the house is; landlords can basically charge whatever someone will rent it for. Any landlord will just decline to renew your lease if you try because there are next to no tenant protections in Virginia. Technically that could be considered retaliation for asserting your rights under the landlord tenant act, but good luck proving it.
All of this is to say that you may pay less with another landlord, but with the vacancy rate what it is, especially in your area, you should probably stay put unless you have other issues with them.
ETA certainly look around, but I don’t think you’ll do that much better.

It really is! 30-40min, esp. when you are just picking someone to drive to the city for a date takes up a good chunk of the evening. At least I work in the city and have dated women who offer to come up my way too. Gotta make it work!

Tbh I do quite a few single women that live in Bon Air/Midlo. I can see the appeal of those areas
And yeah, Mechanicsville sucks D: (my husbands parents live there so I have to go there pretty often) like most of the men there are the thumb looking Trump kind

Bumble was like that for me near VCC. I had more matches with women in Midlo than anywhere. Unfortunately my home location shows as either Ashland or Mechanicsville so I think the West Enders and city folk assume I'm a Hanover Nazi.

I have two trees outside my apartment. One tree who has budded, and one who has not. I like to think the tree that budded is some hotshot rookie who thinks he can weather the second winter with his petals and shit still on, whereas the second is a grizzled veteran who knows what’s coming and is shaking his head that the kid is gonna fuck himself up for the long run
