Such a mixed bag, the only option for many food items for miles yet also the epicenter of drug trafficking. Hopefully they build a bigger mixed use store in its place and use more of their land space devoted to parking

RIC is pretty nice as far as airports go. I’d never been on a plane or traveled anywhere alone before in my life, but I had to go on a work trip to SMF with a layover at DFW. Everyone at RIC was super helpful and understanding that I had no clue what I was doing. One of the employees explained everything to me and showed me on the map where to go. DFW was a nightmare, I got lost, and almost missed my connecting flight.
I had a brand new suitcase that was absolutely torn to shreds by AA though, that was pretty annoying. My main gripe-luggage wise was I had an AirTag in my checked bag that didn’t seem to work at RIC, but I was able to track it’s exact location at both DFW and SMF. It was odd.

I don’t know but I can be pretty confident. That DoTC place is filled with people that want to continue their little club and they know that the public is against them. They’re actively trying to just go under the radar and stay out of trouble. Why would a group trying to stay out of trouble go around stirring up trouble? It makes much more sense that a redditor in a sub full of fervent left wingers, takes the opportunity to rile up anger towards them by making up a story that everyone will believe. This is internet 101 and is happens all the time on here.

One of my family members is a realtor and said they’ve seen an uptick recently. Said inspection waiving had kinda disappeared after the initial Covid surge and is seeing it come back again now.

I was here for that and I don't think it's any more or less interesting than now. Maybe some of grace was uhhh charming but that's it really.

RVA's great but it doesn't have the job market to drive THAT level of investment and growth.

I don’t disagree but the city data is worth looking at because the significant population decline is a phenomena that the other cities mentioned haven’t seen. And - these threads that are concerned with new development are typically focused on the city rather than the surrounding burbs. But yes - our political definition of the city hurts comparisons to other places, especially outside VA.

Man I thought you’d mistyped “burgled” or something but then it was an actual burger. What a sad waste of a yummy sandwich :(

I don’t see this happening anytime in the next 10 years. If a band wants a big venue and guaranteed tickets - they’re just gonna play DC. We share basically the same market as Charlottesville / Hampton / Raleigh so unless they all collapse, bands are just gonna split them on different legs of tour and play DC when they get too big
I know. Lived in Athens, GA and made many, many, many trips to ATL for shows

2006 was a pretty good benchmark year in my lifetime, but after reading a bunch about the Biograph era, 1978 sounds like it was a pretty great time to be weird in Richmond.

He tried that shit on me too a few years back. I asked if that's how it works, I dig through and find the stuff that's worth a damn and then pay a premium? He gave me the marked price and I never went back. Fuck 'em!

The problem is that for many years very little new housing was built in the city. No one wanted to live here because of the crime problem. It will take much longer for Richmond to catch up to other cities. Also, as you've pointed out in the past, Richmond has a lot of public housing projects that are off limits to private developers.

You never saw me asking for tenants that agree or disagree with the adoption of the resolution, that is for them to tell me. We all know the simple fact of the matter here and that is that many residences within the city are unsafe and requests by tenants are often ignored.
It’s not assuming any conclusion to ask for people that experience these issues to tell me if this does or doesn’t seem like a solution to their problems and why they feel that way.

Yeah I bet old age is one of the less likely causes of death for a congressperson. I'm not advocating for this I'm just wondering how it would affect government business and the division of power.

How do you "know"?
I don't think you really know, and you're defending racists with no proof. While that may not technically make you be a racist... It's not a good look for saying you're not.
