You're an adult. You do not need your parent's permission to date or move out. It's time to take ownership of your life and start living it.

Reply to [33m][33f] - I've been developing feeling towards an engaged female co-worker and she has reciprocating feelings, or so I think, what should I do? by Educational_Ad2579
You should know better ...don't get involved. She is probably enjoying the attention but it isn't worth it. She is going home to someone ....have some respect for yourself and her.

Reply to [35M][37F][4.5F] My wife wants to change our daughter’s middle name to her surname. I am hesitant, but want to compromise. Any advice? by KJEveryday
I’ve been married 30 years. It is still hard for me to not have my original last name. If I had it to do over again, I would have given all my children my maiden name as a middle name. It would help my mental health so much with that.
Sexism caused this issue. It hurts and I get it. We Give your wife this. You and she both assumed that her taking your last name wouldn’t be a big deal. It was a big deal and while she doesn’t seem to mind having your last name, she wants a way for her name to not feel erased. You have the privilege of not having to change your name and getting to pass on your name. Step up and let her have something similar. Find a way to explain it to your daughter and having two parents.
Don’t make your wife hurt because your mom has a necklace.
ETA. Don’t do two middle names. Really too complicated. Instead, have the original first name-original middle name be a “nickname”. So, Violet Robin is something you can still call her because it makes you happy. You can tell your daughter it is a nickname. Just like sweetheart, or Baby Girl, etc. Kids understand nicknames. Probably younger brother has a few nicknames.

Reply to comment by Worldexplorer_ in [33M] [26F] why doesn’t my husband *show* me he loves me through gestures? by Worldexplorer_
Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses. It sounds like planning is a strength for you. That's great! What are his strengths? Do they make up for his weaknesses?
I really enjoy planning and getting to pick out what my partner and I do. My current bf will plan too but I actually prefer to do the planning. I've been in relationships where guys would make extravagant plans... it was nice but I found if a guy did that early on they were often just trying to impress and their true shitty natures came out later on. Love bombing is actually a really common thing... The extravagant planners in my past turned out to be liers, cheaters and abusers...

Your mom sounds insane. You haven't needed her permission to move out for like 9 years. Just leave before you waste more of your life.

Reply to (34F)(34M) she said my needs don’t matter. I said if she honestly believes that we shouldn’t be together. by ThrowRA_tireddad22
Firstly your needs are both equally as important. And you are right that they needed to be discussed and a balance and compromise made.
You probably need to look at how to do more around the home, even if you don’t think you do, or arranging for some help so your wife gets some more time to herself on top of the counselling and yoga. But you also need to have some time for yourself.
If she doesn’t want to discuss and come to a compromise, then tell her to get a job that pays what yours does, and that you will swap places, but you will be expecting her to put your wants as more important just as she does now.
