Sounds good! I already have my Technician's-class license, and did the SKYWARN training two years ago on my own. Are you always "on-call", or is it a "if you can help, it would be appreciated"-type thing?
Thanks for your input!

Park on Harris Ave outside of mall if you can.

Um, so you're saying that there is a legitimate problem in Providence with people thinking that they have a right to go 90 mph through a neighborhood filled with schools?
Ah yes, the ole "more cameras = less police" argument. Because no police state ever had tons of cameras all over the place.

I've volunteered with them for years, and it's been a valuable experience. I started by attending a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) class, and got my Technician's license through them. They just held a SKYWARN class on Monday.
I've volunteered at PVD Fest and other events in the past, and also gotten training on first aid, CPR, and staffing Medical Points of Distribution among other things.
Some volunteers also work for other towns' public safety departments, but some of us have day jobs outside the field. I recommend it if you have the time!

How far or long is it by bicycle if you can commute to it?
Seems like going by the spin boundary limits it seems to be appropriately 30 minutes from the movies assuming your within Providence.
I imagine for a phobia, you might want to avoid the situation, (but cheaper parking at least?)

When the mall first opened there was a service entrance to the food court from the top level of the garage on the Macy’s side. Too many people must’ve caught onto its existence, because it’s gone now.

This only works on the Boscov’s side. On the Macy’s side, the movie theater is above the top level.

I’ve done a college radio show and I’m eager to play Kyuss tracks and go outside to smoke to keep the people of providence safe if the worst happens. I’m also qualified at coming back into the studio stoned, semi accurately reading off the time, and then playing a PSA about the dangers of oncoming trains.
HOW CAN I HELP. WHERE DO I SIGN UP

I don’t volunteer with them but have had the chance to interact with their director and leadership. Fantastic people and a nation-leading example of local-focused preparation and emergency management. If you’ve got the time, they would be a great group to work with (IMHO).

Thanks this was all really helpful! For me it’s the fact that the mall is split and navigating it is a nightmare. I just need to feel like I know how to get back to my car. Parking on the roof on the north side near boscov’s is the key!
