Top floor of one of those closer to Olney, with a good view facing the downtown and the lit-up State House. But only if money were no object.

Well, it's into the morning, and it's still happening. Just a surreal sound.

The inordinate fear that those planters put in Rhode Island drivers is one of the most hilarious things about the west side. There’s always enough room and everyone panics when they pass one.

I agree, except defensive walking is the default. For me at least. I don’t know how others walk or drive, but defensive transport is always the default. Anything else is just a plus.

HA this is something I hear a lot, actually. In fact, a third-party researcher at Tufts asked to do a study on us as an intervention for loneliness, and she happened to find that the WORSE of a mood you were in when you showed up to the event, the BIGGER the mood boost you felt after the event. So I'd say your evaluation is empirically correct! :)

It sounds like a demolition impact hammer to me. I’ve been hearing it this week after 11p, so I assumed it’s the highway construction closing lanes at night and going to town.

Some of them are massive and I personally hate them. But a lot of dipshits in Nissan Altimas carrying a 540 credit score don’t know how to drive and were endangering the rest of us, so I guess they’re better to have

We absolutely need to walk defensively, it’s true. It would just be nice if defensive walking wasn’t as necessary here. Not every city is like this.

>The Pittsburgh left is a colloquial term for the driving practice of the first left-turning vehicle taking precedence over vehicles going straight through an intersection, associated with the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, area. In other locales, the practice is also referred to as a Boston left or New York left. It is a potentially illegal and controversial practice.

Agreed. So many people try to rush and do the pittsburgh leftas soon as the light turns green without looking for pedestrians. I had to learn to not just look both ways, but backwards and forwards too to avoid getting hit when crossing the street.

Having some stop signs on the north side of Hope would help - crossing Hope anywhere between Rochambeau and Lippet Park is harrowing

Oak Hill neighborhood, just over the Prov/Pawtucket line beyond Hope / Blackstone Blvd -- that's a wonderful, cozy, quiet neighborhood. Have friends who are longtime residents there and they love it.
Also consider Riverside, just across the Seekonk River from the East Side, in East Providence. Friends who live there all love it.
I lived for 8 years in Silver Lake. At the end of Plainfield St, its crown jewel (and it really is one) is Neutecon(+ several more syllables) Hill which is absolutely fantastic for hiking and being instantly boom! into the woods -- remarkable for a city dweller.
And Silver Lake has some of the best hidden-gem tiny Central American restaurants.
There were a few murders while I lived there (one directly opposite us) but otherwise crime wasn't so bad. And no loud rowdy student parties.
What was bad, and it ended up really affecting me, was the lack of trees and green. If in spring summer fall, you walked around the East Side, then did the same length walk in Silver Lake, you'd notice it. I walk a lot and did not enjoy it there at all -- but having that Hill helps!
