Thanks! I once added tomato to a sandwich at Rogue Island and they forgot to tell me it was $1 extra when I paid for it on the phone. Then they wanted me to pay $1 cash when I got there….like…really?

To counter the OP’s incessant fear-mongering:

https://www.wpri.com/news/local-news/providence/providence-shootings-dropped-by-nearly-half-in-2022/

TLDR:

The violent crime rate has been dropping for decades in this city. There was a spike during COVID, that is true for every single city in America, but now things are regressing to the mean. Providence is a wonderful city and I have never felt particularly unsafe, but it is still a city. Use your brains and you’ll be fine.

And don’t let alarmists like u/Previous_Floor and his propaganda fool you into pearl clutching.

Nothing that I know of in RI. REI in Cranston has their section of returned items for sale.

If you're ever up north, definitely stop into IME in North Conway - they have a big consignment section in the basement. Ragged Mountain Equipment, just up the road in Intervale, also has consigment stuff in their basement.

An Amtrak monthly pass from South Station/Back Bay to Providence actually costs less than an equivalent MBTA pass and the train takes 25 minutes less because it only stops at 128 before Providence. It's also way more comfortable than the commuter rail. The schedule isn't as robust, but if it works for your schedule it's definitely the best option.

I don’t understand why people hate these posts. I get they can be low effort, but I don’t read the news often and it’s nice to scroll through Reddit and see the good mixed with the bad. This happened right downtown.
