I never claimed they should be the same. I am unsure if they are the same. Rule 5 in r/providence is Mod discretion. That means everything doesn't need to be spelled out.

Regardless, I am perfectly content with my posting style and have no plans to change it.

Oh yeah don't you worry, I've read through very many reddit posts about neighborhoods, mapped how far different areas are from my various hobbies/priorities, gotten an idea of how expensive different areas are (a bit of an over planner when it comes to big life changes). I've been to Providence before but I'll probably go down soon for a day just to walkabout and whatnot.

And yeah of the different areas I'm considering locating to, everything is better compared to Boston. Good point about looking into tenant rights, though, after 7 years of renting in Boston I've developed a bit of learned helplessness, maybe I'll take this as an opportunity to vaguely pretend I'm a human person with rights!!!!!

Start looking casually now just to get the idea of neighborhoods. In terms of seriously looking at and touring apartments, 4-6 weeks ahead is usually the sweet spot.

Providence has a lot of students, so June-August is a very competitive start time, and prices are pretty high. When it gets closer, you might want to check out individual realty websites rather than the big collection websites. I got lucky and found a nice apartment before it got posted to Zillow

Just to get the conversation kicked off - it's rough out there. Stock is low, prices are high, and turnover is quick. Leaving Boston though, maybe it won't seem so bad.

Here are my uninformed thoughts: start researching now, every building and every neighborhood possible so you know exactly where you would want to live. Then you'll know enough to be able to immediately jump on what you can find come summer.

It also wouldn't hurt to brush up on any tenant rights stuff that is particular to RI; pushing or violating the idiosyncrasies of those boundaries can be a good red flag locator to save you form a bad landlord.

Your suggestion is not the appropriate way to do it...and would violate the rules in the sister subreddit (again, not sure about here).

But why are you even making these odd suggestions? Just looking for something to whine about? Can't find a GoLocal post to complain about? Bored? Or simply trying to get people to forget about the shooting?

Maybe trying to reaching out whoever runs the ri comedy museum place at the park cinema, idk how active the place is but it looks like it was renovated from whatever it was before, also for whatever it’s worth I’m fairly sure Marc Maron references it in his book waiting for the punch

Yes I saw Frank Santos the R rated hypnotist there back in the early 1990s. He hypnotized a group of women out for their wedding shower and had the bride-to-be make out with a complete stranger. When she came to she threatened that her future husband would find him and “beat him up”. He put her under again quickly using a key word and she went back to making out with him again.

You're not even making sense.

losing the picture = intent to stir the pot?????

And not sure about r/providence, but what you've suggested (adding commentary to a news submission) is against the rules in r/RhodeIsland. Regardless, your suggestion is not the proper way to submit a link post.

Additionally, there is a difference when posting from mobile versus desktop.

And you're a troll because you are only here to cause trouble.

Thankfully, I stopped visiting long before that era of politics. I am glad you had a safe haven out there!

I remember the day my kids were playing out at one of the nature reserves & a well-off woman approached to chide me about my children getting dirty. Her kid was a toddler wearing some uncomfortable designer outfit that cost more than all of our outfits combined. I watched her manhandle the child to keep him out of the sandpit.

Every time I visited, there was some variation of this type of nitpicking interaction with the affluent except at the private school one of my kids attended in Freeport. Before that school was a public school where some of the parents were Goldman Sachs & Fortune 500 types. It was even worse.

I am a pretty chill person, but some of the residents tested the limits of my patience with snobbery in ways I have not experienced elsewhere. lol
