I'm surprised the Children's Museum is there tbh. It's nice, but I've been to a lot and most of them are nicer. The Clay Center in Charleston, WV was a surprisingly awesome Children's Museum that I wish we had in Pittsburgh. The imaginative play area was just so wonderful and something our Children's Museum lacks.

Heinz History Center is truly a gem though and I'm glad both made the list.

This actually might not have been Magee’s fault, if the form you have was right. PA messed up my son’s BC (typos in both my name and my husband’s name). Magee had sent the correct info, someone in Harrisburg screwed up. If you need to file an amendment to get it fixed, (1) DO IT NOW it’s much faster the younger the baby is, (2) make sure to check the state’s website for CURRENT forms and requirements to correct a BC. I made the mistake of following the instructions on the back of the BC I had and apparently that was totally wrong, and would have taken almost a year to resolve because it was wrong (only 8 months if I’d gotten it right! 😭). I actually ended up contacting my state house rep’s office and they got on the phone with the health department to get it sorted. And (3) this one is obvious in retrospect, but order copies of the wrong BC first in case you need it in the meantime (and in case it takes months and months to get corrected). You have to send the wrong one in. Oh also, when they correct it they don’t send a new one automatically, you have to order/pay for a new copy.

Needless to say, I don’t have a very high opinion of the DOH or Dept of Vital Records….the staff in Dan Frankel’s office were great, though!

This looks familiar. We've may have some similar questions to this in the past. You might find some good info here : Apartment search. I don't always get it right though, cuz I'm just a simple bot.

I move them all the time, in my neighborhood people leave them on the wheelchair ramps at crosswalks all the time. I move them to a more reasonable location nearby.

They are heavier than they look and have an alarm. The alarm turns off when you put it down.

When I downloaded the app, it had instructions that when you were done with your rental you should take a picture in the app to confirm it was parked correctly or potentially face a fine. It doesn't seem like that is enforced at all.

I like the idea of them esp now that Scooby (RIP) has left Pittsburgh, but I think the implementation still has some kinks to work out.

To be fair, I was reading about this story on social media and it appears that she did shoot at people. None of her family members or friends (including one who was with her) are blaming the police for her death. Unfortunately it looks like she had a lot of mental health issues throughout her life. One would like to see the police be able to incapacitate someone in this situation without killing them, especially someone who is having a breakdown, but I guess they aren’t trained to do that.

I recommend downloading the Spin app and creating an account. It doesn't require a credit card if you never intend to ride one. But it lets you quickly make a report of improper parking by scanning the QR code on the scooter and snapping a picture of the offense (click on "Contact Support" then "Report Issue"). I've found they're very responsive to removing them if you make a direct report through the app. I'd like to think it also helps them quickly identify the the last user and issue warnings/bans.

Sun dog

>A sun dog (or sundog) or mock sun, also called a parhelion (plural parhelia) in meteorology, is an atmospheric optical phenomenon that consists of a bright spot to one or both sides of the Sun. Two sun dogs often flank the Sun within a 22° halo. The sun dog is a member of the family of halos caused by the refraction of sunlight by ice crystals in the atmosphere. Sun dogs typically appear as a pair of subtly colored patches of light, around 22° to the left and right of the Sun, and at the same altitude above the horizon as the Sun.
