Mine too. We just have to make it through the next three weeks and I think we will be in the clear as far as any possible big snow events are concerned.

Like I said in another comment, they can call it a fee or alms for the poor or a donation or whatever. There is an expectation of some sort of payment.
It’s like tipping. There is no rule forcing you to leave your server a tip, but if you go out to eat, you always leave a tip. Same in this case.

We always joke about how we have Fall for 3 days and then it’s Winter… starting to feel like we now have Fall for 6 months peppered with 3 weeks of Winter lol.

Cheelz to that friends.
This is a good day.

As admittedly nice as it feels, it is unnerving that there are multiple 70°F-or-over days in the middle of February, at this latitude and this far inland.
If this is February, June & July are likely to be even more sauna-like (e.g. particularly hot and humid) and generally unpleasant.

You’re doing yourself a disservice by having a pessimistic view of religion. Consider the prosperity we experience by living in an ordered society. The order is enabled by laws that are rooted in religious tradition. Are modern religious institutions perfect? Absolutely not. To say that they are only about money and control is childish.

Even the warmth doesn't get rid of those early dark days. I go to work, it's dark. I come home, it's dark. That's what does it for me.

I remember being late to church that day because we stayed home to watch the demolition.

Reply to Buying a house in Shadow Shuttle PA? by iRagnarox
Shadow Shuttle is one of the better sections. You're near the shopping plaza and 376. And that neighborhood is pretty quiet too.
Penn Hills property values have been steadily going up in recent years, but, many of these homes do need some work. So you do need to be on the lookout for foundation issues, retaining wall problems, moisture control, etc. Those issues are common.
The biggest drawback of Penn Hills is the absolutely insane school taxes, like horrendously so

This really sounds like you're asking for Christianity à la carte, a sacramental splash n' dash. It is unlikely that any congregation is going to deny a child baptism. However, they are within reason to expect that you commit to raising the child in the faith.

Reply to Wedding at Phipps by AtmoSZN
Yes and today is actually our wedding anniversary! We got married there in 2017 and it was magical. We did it in the Broderie Room during their orchid show. The room was rented for 90 minutes, but there are different time periods and different rooms that you can rent out depending on how you want your ceremony and if you are getting catering there, etc. The event person will talk you through all those details. The flowers were beautiful and so were the decorations from the orchid show. We used a microphone (provided by Phipps) so everyone could hear our ceremony/vows. The temperature was great for our event and everyone still talks fondly about the ceremony. It was laid back, beautiful in nature and everything we wanted in our wedding.
Edit to add that we got a reduced rate so we could have admissions to all parts of Phipps for our wedding guests. I have a bunch of nieces and nephews so this was perfect for them to be able to enjoy all of Phipps.
