I live in San Diego now, but moved from Pittsburgh. I'd say houses in Pittsburgh tend to be mostly large houses. Here you will pay $900K for a 1200 sq ft. house in a decent neighborhood where as in Pittsburgh in the best neighborhoods that's likely going to be be around $400K-$500K. The best neighborhoods in San Diego (typically pretty close to the ocean) tend to be $2+ million.

Buy them online, seriously. You can get it fresh no problem. I buy spices by the pound online like three times a year, then I split them, vacuum pack them, and freeze them. When you need more you just grab a frozen pack and refill your bottle. It works great and saves money.

When I first moved to Pittsburgh I got a second job as seasonal help there (Christmas 1999). On my first shift, someone dropped me off in front of some shirts and said "straighten this up" and then they left me there with nothing to do for the rest of the night.

I asked every employee who came by what else I could do and they always said they'd ask but I don't think I ever saw the same person twice. After 3 hours of boredom I decided it wasn't worth it and just went home, then I dodged their calls for a week when they tried to schedule me for more shifts.

Yes. But it also depends on where you're coming from. But it is not as cheap as real estate agents, developers and some news outlets claim it to be. Unless, of course, you're becoming the CEO of one of the companies here! Then you're good!
