Kuhn's is a no frills 1990 shopping experience, it's limited in selection but fine.
In East Allegheny you will have the North Side Farmer's Market from May - October, which is great.
At least one of the vendors there (Blackberry Meadows Farms) runs a reasonably priced CSA that you can pick up weekly at the market.

Doing anything fun in Pittsburgh on a Sunday that isn't sports related is rough sledding.
I could never understand it and still can't.

There was a nice Shop N Save in the Hill District, built at a cost of $8 million. It closed in 2019 due to shoplifting, crime and the general negative effects of locating a nice store in a hostile neighborhood.

Target officially opened in the summer of 2022. The building also has a hotel (which opened in 2019) and several floors of apartments. There is still retail space open. Plus, Burlington is moving down the street and a Five Below is coming. New life for this Pittsburgh gem!

I love and miss this Kaufmann's so much. I had mixed emotions, remembering all of the floors and all of the fun. I am so so so so happy to see the building have a new life. I will also forever miss Kaufmann's.

Nice! I'm out of town by Wednesday but I'll drive out to that area tomorrow. I'll keep the rest in mind for next time. Thanks a lot!

I play league now but I used to go to the pick up out in PISA, if you willing to drive out that far. If they still do it, its Wednesday evenings. All the parks do pick up in the warmer months. Id check out the oval/schenly park to see if anyone is playing since its good weather. There are also a couple facebook groups you can join who do pickup throughout southside, oakland, etc.

Probably PISA or Cool Springs, though it's been a few years since I've played at either

The first time I walked into this new Target it hurt as I remembered what the layout was when it was Kaufmann's. That building will always be Kaufmann's for me. I miss roaming through all the floors.

The thing is that old houses in shitty locations are cheap. Once you start getting into desirable houses in desirable areas, Pittsburgh is just as expensive as anywhere else that isn't one of the big bubble cities.
