Then when they see you riding the bus you can say you own a car but (I don’t have a license) (it’s a matchbox car) (my partner is using) (you do t pay me enough to cover insurance)

Right before the Covid lockdowns started, my husband and I went to Mad Mex Oakland several times in the span of a few weeks. We kept getting the same waitress. She told us that she was really happy to see us because we were polite and tipped well, and that having customers such as us make her shifts a little bit better. She definitely seemed like she was having a rough time. This should have tipped me off that something was "off" with the working conditions there. Then the Covid shutdowns happened, and when we went to Mad Mex for our next visit more than 2 years later, we didn't see her. We both looked for her and hoped that she was now working in a better situation.

Or you could just say yeah I have a car and take the bus and show up on time and nobody will know or care

This sounds about right, and very familiar.

With the way things cost these days they can’t afford to have a restaurant that doesn’t do well year round.

(Read in Alex Jones voice) “Joe, Joe, listen to me……”Big Burrito” wants you to believe that corn tortillas aren’t better. That’s because they own the flour tortilla factories.”

So, you think Chili's is comparable to Mad Mex? A local chain that's been in that location for decades is comparable to an international chain that plops itself down in whatever shiny new development it can?

Didn't I read somewhere that all of the employees were offered positions at other Big Burrito locations in Pittsburgh? I mean, I followed my favorite server to Shadyside.

True. So the result is the same, but you’d demonstrated you know more about hiring than the person doing the hiring.

My boss does this yet we have a stack of applications nearing the hundreds. No boss wants to pay because they want more money.

And then you’re combative and don’t get the job anyway.

Mex is the red headed stepchild of Big Burrito. ESPECIALLY the Oakland location

Mex gets terrible quality food, they treat staff like trash, and they have issues with mice ALLLLL of the time at this location. Plus the company is based off gaining profits from racial stereotypes. Oakland should have closed years ago. Source: I worked here

When Mad Mex first opened, it was actually a new and inventive take on Mexican cuisine. Now every town has what I like to call fancy taco places.
My brother worked at was exploited by the McKnight Rd location for years before he finally moved on to a place that let him run his own kitchen and make his own menu, and he's much happier now.

Yes to both. There’s literally no penalty for lying during an interview. Application is a different matter, but they’re not asking on the app if you have transportation, unless it’s a job that requires a car/ bike.
