Lose the 2nd heater entirely! No matter how efficient the appliance, it makes no sense to keep 40 gallons always hot for what sounds like a rarely used basement bath. A small tankless unit placed in or adjacent to the bath will provide instant & limitless hot water for a hand wash or shower, & draw ZERO kWh when not in use. Cost approx $250.

Shooting guns is a lot fun. I am fairly (really) liberal. I grew up shooting guns. My father is pretty much a crazy leftist. He inherited guns, we still get together to shoot guns. I do not see any need for having a gun on me when I go to the grocery store or anything like that. I do however really enjoy the gun hobby. Nothing wrong with trying it out! Especially with good supervision!

I was laid off in 2019. I knew it was coming and I was just glad it was over. What was nuts was the lead up. It was the Monday after Black Friday. I was supposed to be off Black Friday but had to be logged on most of the day because of someone else not being on deadline. Since I was salary exempt, I just lost the day. Monday comes around, and my boss thanks me for logging on (even though it wasn’t an option). Ask about the upcoming layoffs, she tells me not to worry. Go about my day.

I come back from lunch around 2 PM, when my boss pulls me into a conference room. With her boss and some lady I don’t recognize and a lot of paperwork. I got laid off after working more than half the work day! When I go outside to wait for my ride bc I had to be out of the building immediately, I realize it’s raining and I don’t have an umbrella. Fitting end.

My wife and I went to keystone for their class and purchased from them. We are also leftists. Going in I was on guard to keep my politics to myself and braced to hear things I disagreed with but keep my head down so I could just get what I needed out of the place and gtfo. They didn’t get political except when someone in the class asked about gun laws in surrounding states if he was traveling with his gun and the guy running the class started in on New York being “communist city USA” but he didn’t elaborate a ton on “the commies” at least.

So, I'm coming from it from the perspective of the lower end of the ranks here. Staff that might not have enough vacation time accrued for this mandatory policy, for example. If they're made whole, I believe there would be a lower risk. That also includes more than pay for sure. That's providing them respect and solid feedback. Making them feel seen, if you get what I'm saying.

It kind of reminds me of loss prevention practices for retail, honestly. Usually, the most effective thing you can do to prevent theft is just saying hello to people. So in this case, it's more being a good manager and touching base with your staff frequently enough that they feel seen, but not too much that they feel smothered.

I think you're right about access, just having access to that information is a risk factor. Everyone's motivation is different. But pay is a crucial factor in reducing risk. It might not help against someone that's already greedy, but it could prevent someone that's just desperate from making a mistake.

The exact same loophole exists now, except in an even worse form as it is compounded by the shoddy CLR.

>I don’t know how you would find these remodels without annual interior inspections of every property in the county.

You wouldn't, just like you don't now. The system doesn't depend on catching 100% of paint jobs in the county. It would catch larger renovations, and even some cosmetic changes are visible from outside and could be picked up in regular assessments. And again, the reassessment at sale (when the most aggressive property investors attempt to realize their gains) can catch many more situations.

You're making a mountain out of a molehill to defend the status quo, but that molehill exists even under the status quo! It doesn't make sense.

I remember when Charlie wanted to completely eliminate WFH. This was pre pandemic but employees who were full time at home were being told they would have to go in office.

And then Charlie left and took a job where he worked from NY even though the company was in LA.

Now BNY wants to do a hybrid schedule, but move everyone to the Ross street building w/shared desks. If you don’t have a desk on a day you come in, they want you to sit on couches.

I was laid off in 2019. I had a very toxic experience and had to take medical leave because my mental health got really screwed up. It was awful.

Since you are asking, I’ll answer. To legally carry a handgun, you just need a concealed carry permit (CCP). To get one, you literally just fill out a form and take it to the courthouse. No training, instructions, or exam required.

So yes, legally, you can go buy a firearm and then be licensed to conceal carry it without any knowledge on how to use it. Big yikes.

Edit: as someone pointed out, you can carry non-concealed without a permit. Yes, that is true.

Long story extremely short, I had a cousin that was like 10 when he tragically shot himself when on a hunting trip with his dad and my uncle. Really messed up the family. That’s the main reason I’ve never wanted to have a gun around my house
