Sounds like whoever that landlord may be a serious real-estate version of a wallstreetbets bagholder trying to make up for their robinhood weekly deep OTM options gambling. Housing like any asset, is a bid-ask and I hope to touchdaahn Jesus that nobody is careless enough to pay that ask.

Yeah so additional fun facts: a number of years ago during the last economic downturn the bank decided to only provide raises the following JULY as a "special" cost cutting measure. So it's EOY, you do your review process with your manager. They tell you what your raise will be 7... Months.... From now.

They left this in effect for years. They finally stopped like 2 years ago and started giving us raises in March. Now this 401k fuckery.

As someone who bought their first house in 2020, I think you might be too late, unless you look small or further out in neighboring counties. I’m sure if you diligently shop maybe a gem appears but a small cape cod is probably what you could find in a good Pittsburgh suburb. Bridgeville, Canonsburg, butler, etc may be more the range for something decent

Maybe pleasant hills. Like someone else said, it's not a buyer's market right now. It might be better if you have to to find a short term lease and take your time looking

It's basically whether or not you have access to input/approve financial transactions (wires mostly).

Also, if I recall correctly they did increase starting vacation to 3-4 weeks a few years ago so I don't think people in sensitive positions have to use full vacation all at once anymore.

Other fuckery mentioned mostly still checks out.

Yeah, sorry, Union Grill JUST announced remodeling.

While I have you on the horn:

  • Aviary for entertainment
  • Sienna Mercato for meatballs and beers

Beyond that, I'm like tremendously boring, I'm afraid. But I think the kids would like both spots.

I'm not sure how you figure this. The exact problem you describe here can only exist in a system without regular reassessments. There is no rule that says that assessments can't take into account interior modifications, and permits are required for many of those anyway. The system doesn't work unless the assessments are somewhat accurate, just like it doesn't work if the assessments are not somewhat regular, so I think that is an unreasonable criticism of a proposed alternative.

Yeah, you won’t find HOAs here either. Also, this town is much quieter in general than big cities in Texas. And you won’t find privacy fences everywhere.
