I know a family who lived in The Rocks and rented a small 1br apartment in Sewickley to establish residency so their daughter could go to Quaker Valley.

A lot of kids near me in Hopewell actually live in Aliquippa, but "use grandma's address" to come to Hopewell. There was a big stink a few years ago because they caught and expelled a few kids.

Not saying it's legal or moral. I'm of the very very small minority that think we should merge with Aliquippa SD the way Center and Monaca did to form Central Valley.

That issue has been brought up many times before. The courts have repeatedly held that the school can appeal just like a taxpayer can.

If the county would have changed the assessment on their own without the appeal, that would be unconstitutional.

I recall someone brought that issue up again recently (last year or so). I don’t know it’s status, but I recall I didn’t think it would go anywhere when it was filed.

It's not gated, but maybe something like Southpointe in Canonsburg would fit what you're looking for. Agree with others that I've never really seen/heard of any gated communities in the Pgh area

Can I ask a more general question? My impression was that there is, or was, a lawsuit challenging the tax assessment scheme as violating the uniformity clause of the PA Constitution--that taxing newcomers differently than the general neighborhood was unconstitutional... Is that still pending, or what was the result if not?

Statistically, but I'm willing to bet that Chicago snow sticks around a lot longer too. Like snow on the ground all winter, vs 6" here and it rains 3 days later here.

Also the Great Lakes act as a heat ballast, causing warmer falls and early winter and cooler springs into the summer. I grew up in Erie so not Chicago, but I can say the change of seasons right on Lake Erie is a lot less tumultuous and once the winter coat is out, it's staying out.
