They were on that track and wound up selling to a larger development firm I believe.

I saw that earlier today, and was part of what got me to make this post. Definitely an awesome development, but it got me wondering about the retail developments that were supposed to happen 2-3 years ago

I'd rather have them run unopposed than have someone run a disruptive campaign they know they can't win for political clout. Just burns money and time from both sides that could be put towards the actual governance. That being said, if Gauthier wasn't doing her job with aplomb I might feel differently.

Neato, Gauthier is the best representative that West Philly has had in ages and would be tough to beat. Random Anecdote - I remember complaining to the water department for weeks about a broken hydrant on our street. I reached out to Gauthier and within a half day it was fixed. She's frequently engaging folks on community forums and seems to actively fight for them. West Philly has had some shitty reps, but Gauthier ain't one of them.

They’re currently renovating a lot of it for companies as well. My friends company it about to sign a lease and relocate there.

Target was in the original proposal and I haven't heard of them backing out so, fingers crossed on that one. I think it's supposed to go just east of where the Shop Rite is.

The layout does suck, but I don’t know how much you can do about that without spending tons of money. I was hopeful for the target as well, as the one thing I wish we had here was a place for decent home goods that wasn’t Marshall’s.

Haven’t been to the Aldi yet as it was nuts when I went by opening weekend, but I will be heading there in the next week to check it out

Crexi.com is a commercial real estate site and Ive downloaded the flyer for the complex thats revitalizing the old buildings along oregon. Theyre actively seeking businesses, the flyer lacks a good floor plan but its always fun to peak at it. No big insights pop to mind.

There was a lot of pushback a couple years ago regarding what would or wouldn't go in the new Plaza. Kenyatta Johnson's office went out of his way to slow any kind of new development which, delayed the project.

Personally I dislike the suburban style layout of the whole place but, that will largely remain the same.

Have you tried the new Aldi yet? I went the weekend it opened and it was great.

Nice, when I was grabbing a bag of dog food a week or two ago, I saw that they were getting to work on something there, so that’s awesome news. Having a better option down here for food shopping is exciting.

I hope the rest can come to fruition, as it would be such a massive improvement, but not that hopeful given market conditions.

Saw that last week. We don’t really need more supermarkets, but I’m not opposed to having better supermarkets down here. The shoprite and the acme are both pretty mediocre, and don’t offer much outside of the basics.
