I live in S PHL and a driver tried to pull that “flat rate” shit with me. I had taken a cab to the airport, so I knew it wasn’t going to be $30+. I told him to run the meter. He told me to “Get out.”

If you put posters up in your window portraying mexican/jewish/asian/etc racial stereotypes then you'd quickly have a brick thrown through it and the police turning up.

I hate uber. Uber is just another way to suck money out of the middle class and put it in the pocket of technocrats through the gig economy. Taxis wern't the best, but I would rather support the life of the person driving than some rich guys in silicon valley.

Other cities also make an attempt to enforce traffic and parking laws.

Yup. Lyft/Uber makes sense from home to the airport, and taxi makes sense on the way back. Same with 30th St.
