Oh man. A vine st expressway cap would be awesome. After living in Boston post big-dig (I know this was an engineering nightmare for everyone involved while it happened) the green space that it created was awesome. Over a mile of unique parks in a nice long green space that allowed for an enjoyable walk through that portion of the city.

It would be great to have transit running down Delaware Ave. Even without the El, some form of light rail would be neat. I've often thought about what it would be like having some form of light rail transit run down Delaware from Penns Landing, maybe even to Pattison and the Stadiums. Would be neat.

Philadelphia is very much a city of neighborhoods. Your experience in one neighborhood could differ greatly from another, even if it is in close geographic proximity.

Where exactly (between what E/W streets) is this planned for? EDIT: CBS Reporting Chestnut to Walnut. I was hoping it would extend to Market.

If it was, the only city that would've been omitted is Chicago. Certainly didn't take long for a negative comment though.
The point in sharing this is to show where we stack up against other cities globally, and to remind people that there is a lot of good about living here.

That was featured on an episode of Practical Engineering on Youtube. It was interesting to see.

I booked a ticket from Cornwell heights station in the NE round trip for me and my kid for 50 bucks for the both of us . Going to spend a couple days seeing some Broadway plays and eating Tangerine Chicken over her spring break.

Not correct. The exclusive function of a notary is to verify the identity of a signatory. They do not evaluate or read the contents of the document whatsoever.
You could notarize signatures on a potato if you wanted to.

Sorry…. San Fran has a notoriously crap housing situation. Boston… maybe. London post Brexit?!? Wow, they will spit on us and tell us it’s raining at this point!

PA Amtrak rides I believe are set prices. Maybe California as well. No matter what it will be $21 one way to Lancaster from Philly which honestly is a little annoying because it feels too pricey but it is nice to book 20 minutes before the train ride. Really wish Amtrak would get rid of dynamic pricing for the whole system though. And add more sleeper options for way way cheaper.

> I was looking to be in NYC before 3 pm on a Saturday and leave around 11am to 2 pm on the following Monday and there was nothing reasonable. Maybe a Saturday-Monday is harder to find than Friday to Sunday?
I checked second weekend in April for those days/times (since we are talking about ordering in advance), to-from are about $38 on average each.
Closer to the date could be $50+, and you might not be that flexible on time.

We live in the Bache Martin catchment (on its block in fact) and there is a LOT of community support/parental involvement that makes the school so special. We wouldn’t hesitate to send our son there (who’s an infant) but the increasing crime (not just targeted, but reckless, random events) is causing us to move to a different neighborhood. Our neighbors send their kids to GFS, and perhaps I can ask them why, over Bache specifically.

There are a multitude of factors which aren’t mutually exclusive. Legacy status, tutoring, money, role models, expectations, schooling, parental support and involvement all are at play.
GFS is not an affluenza school for dumb rich kids though. Being smart and hard working are necessary for success there. What I’m trying to allude to though is it’s not the type of high school where it’s cool to have low expectations, good off, and be “dumb”. That’s just not the culture there.
They will absolutely kick you out if you don’t maintain your grades (after giving you an opportunity to improve).

Yeah, does the notarization need to be in Chinese or is it just that the document is? Because all the notary is doing is affirming that the the signer presented valid ID and signed the document in front of the notary.

I think by the time kids are older, the parents too are older and more keen to move to the suburbs rather than needing to be able to go out in the city midweek. Most of the reasons for being in a city are things that appeal to you a lot when you're 20-something but less so a decade later

nobody's processing them, they're using them for wages and like personal ATM. You only need processed payments for putting in a bank account, half your expenditure (things like gas+food and going out) can be paid with cash

This feels like it's incredibly biased towards North America or the anglosphere.
We're ranked higher than Shenzhen, Tokyo, and Berlin.
Uhhh, no. I love Philly, but any metric that puts us ahead of them has some major flaws.
