Do you think this about neighborhood Catholic schools, for example?

Ok, fine, but that's a completely different thing from what you were saying a second ago.

I guess I’ll have to take your word for it, but as someone who can’t afford private schooling I see them all as not merit based and solely people paying for the best long term outcomes for their children. There is no judgement, I get it.

The city should just fix them and bill the property owners. If they don't pay put a lein on the property. Problem solved.

Part of GFS is the education which is top notch, but it’s just as much the community and culture of the students. I think almost 40% of the class goes to Ivy League schools. Compared to the other private schools in the area (which are all fine), the student body is smarter/harder working.

Drinks at both bars are reasonably priced.
Dinner wasn’t outrageous, but my data is from before the pandemic.

I spent $16 for two people at taco bell, I don't understand why we having starting burning things yet.
Edit: my point is it used to be cheap and garbage, now it's expensive and garbage.

No it isn't. Not every private school in the country has the same reputation and connections to college admissions.

Greenfield ES is just one of the highly touted public options. The district actually has a lot of solid options. If you want the reality, in the end the only difference are the connections and fabricated prestige from attending private schools so if you’re into spending money for no reason other than ego… go private

I assure you that the majority of Meredith graduates go on to public magnet high schools.

Lol, I have no real opinion here, as I could never afford to send my son there or anywhere comparable, but what you are saying is true of every private school in the country and not unique to GFS.

I recommend East Passyunk as an alternative. The subway is closeby so it's easier to get around, plus it's an extremely cute walkable neighborhood with everything you need.

The garbage guys are pretty awesome when it comes to picking up doggy doo-doo bags in my neighborhood. Three different times now when I've been out walking my pup, they've seen me with a poop bag and offered to take it off my hands.

One joint vs one beer is an interesting comparison, but I think we're also so normalized to the idea of having a drink or two and still being okay to drive. Look how many bars have parking lots!
Decades of "Reefer Madness" propaganda means if you're smoking the devil's lettuce you're gonna suddenly crash your car into a crowd full of orphans and kittens.
The long term solution is to improve public transportation, bike infrastructure, and pedestrian friendliness so that people can get stoned or drunk or just be our usual dumb jaywalking selves without putting anyone else in danger.

I am all for legalizing weed and having places like this, but how do they regulate this with driving? Obviously everyone has different tolerance when it comes to smoking, but I feel like smoking one joint vs having one beer is a very different mind alteration. Either way, imma go to this, but the mom in me has some concerns lol

Oh she deserved the ticket. My point is that it's wild she somehow got a ticket when there are dozens of cars parked constantly putting people in danger and they don't ticket those.
