"The city has an incredible number employee vacancies at all departments and levels of government, it’s estimated to be 5,000 open positions. If I become mayor I plan to hire for all open leadership posts than have a major hiring effort to fill our other vacancies. I also plan to work on changing the workplace culture to be a more particle experience for the city’s workers. This city has a lot of issues, I’m well aware of most of them and plan to be very responsive to fix our major problems."

It may be a vague answer but at least they bothered to respond. Make no mistake, I'm not thrilled about voting for a businessman with no government experience. But I find almost all the other candidates for mayor to be absolutely repulsive.

I'll vote for Rebecca in the general election if nominated in the primary. If any of the other six candidates win I will probably write someone in/vote 3rd party. All Philadelphians deserve better.

Dog owners putting poop bags in trash cans isn't even that helpful. In my experience the trash guys often don't take it unless it is in proper garbage bag.

If you are going to throw your dog poop into someone else's trash either:

  • Make sure it is a small enough trash bin that the garbage men can lift and dump the entire bin into the back of the truck.
  • Or find a loosely tied bag of trash and slip it in.

Considering moving to Philly but I am disabled. How to find a wheelchair accessible place to rent? Also are any neighborhoods more accessible that I should be looking at? I searched but could only find posts several years old...I'm hoping it's gotten a bit better since then.... Thanks

The state of the sidewalks and streets right now is deplorable. It is a damn American Ninja Warrior course out there, even for an able-bodied individual, not to mention all the strange scents and dust clouds you encounter at face level along the way. Didn't a brick fall off some neglected building and critically maim some woman downtown the other week? Your usual shit-smears all along the way, too, not that the city can do much about dog doo...

they taste like cardboard. same with the bagels. im like 99% sure their bagels are MADE OUT OF their own recycled cardboard boxes to help save on food costs. also improves shelf stability. and when you're charging $2 for that and 16oz of liquid diabetes to help wash it down, whose really gonna even notice?

"America runs on dunkin" i hate this slogan. its disappointing. i always think "umm....can we please NOT though?" whether it is because we are in such a soul less state that all real food is disappearing and becoming processed food products and we dont even notice it, or because we are so overworked and underpaid that its all we can afford, it is WRONG that America runs on Dunkin and we NEED to change the root causes of this.

It's 20 min not 30. Section 12-913-1-c-2 https://codelibrary.amlegal.com/codes/philadelphia/latest/philadelphia_pa/0-0-0-285267

Well right after it says you can't park in a designated bicycle lane, but if there are no parking signs at the bike lane, who knows whether b or c applies. That's probably the confusion.

I remember being at a trade show in NYC about a decade ago. It was the last day and union guys were breaking down all the displays so we could pack them up and leave. We had some vessels with water in them for the show and needed to dump them out. After waiting for over an hour I walked over to a drain, dumped it out and left. I was told by one of the workers that we would be hearing from their union over it.

I'm all for supporting strong wages but I'm not trying to get back home at midnight so these knuckleheads can slowly work through everything.
