Free on-street parking is 100% worse than paid off-street parking. People are going to drive no matter.

Every picket needs a solid grill master for motivation.

Is that so far-fetched? I won’t go to places that don’t take cards. Not out of any principle, I just don’t carry cash on me.

Maybe, but a better guess is that they were beginning to lose a lot of business from it. We’re an increasingly less cash carrying society for better or for worse. Businesses are beginning to understand that.

And then immediately contradicted themselves and said oh wait they aren't actually banned.
As if the only overarching policy is seeing what they can get away with and then dialing in back when confronted.

There’s no way you’ve been in philly for decades if you truly think adding a paid parking garage will prevent people from driving and parking like assholes.

Can't speak for all unions but for my union, they don't pay you, but you do get things like entries into raffles for things like tvs, power tools and such. A lot of these guys that do the pickets are retirees or apprentices. I've done a couple, they can be pretty boring.

Like I said, this was 10 years ago and it shook me so hard I didn't want to go back. There were black people when I went, but like I said it was separated. I didn't notice it at first until the bartender locked them out when they all went outside at the same time for some reason, and the other guy came over and said that shit to me. Could have been a totally nutty customer and a series of weird coincidences, but it certainly didn't feel like it.

no, but if you're in the union and laid off sometimes the union will ask you to do picket duty

It's got a parking lot, at the end of the day that's a big seller. The cute little boutique coffee shops that make and sell excellent coffee are usually tucked away.
