Not anymore. I worked in communications for a nonprofit that had programs for foster youth so I used to interview them and I had some other interactions here and there. Not gangbangers or anything, just kids with really rough lives. They know right from wrong like anybody else but they tend to have a lot of trauma and self regulation issues and just do so much ridiculously stupid stuff that messes up their lives as a result. I don't know the answer here, but community mediators has generally been the most successful at reducing violence but it's hard to scale and easy to cut when the budget is tight. It also works best when the police make an effort to keep the same cops on the same beats and building relationships, but we know how hard that is.

I grew up in north central PA and hoagie/sub was interchangeable. Matter of fact, one of the guys in my class was nicknamed Hoagie. I ended up moving to Norristown, and learned about the Zep. No subs down here, and the bread is definitely better.

It’s a bit of a haul and you’ll want to wait for slightly better weather, but beaches are good spots.

Lots of beachgoers coins, sometimes jewelry. If you go to beaches that get sand dredged in, sometimes shipwreck and lost at sea bits (I did this as a kid with my dad and we found a big metal antique plate once).

Plus, the digging is easy.

I bought a new car with the expectation that it would get dinged and scratched almost immediately, and it did - in a suburban parking lot. Right after that I got hit with highway debris and had to replace the windshield. Have collected the usual scrapes and scratches since, but eh. I plan to drive it as long as I can so I’m not worried about resale, so I just don’t look too closely at the bumpers (my father on the other hand is horrified haha).
