I have a bucket set up for vacations in my savings account, but as another Redditor mentioned, I have a hard time using it. I don’t know how to get over the mental bump.

My mother pays almost $2.8k for the mortgage and can’t contribute a lot to this unexpected expense. My family member receives retirement funds and pays for some of the utilities every month. My brother works some hours per week and cannot afford to contribute. (sorry for any weird wording here. I am still building my finance vocab)

“Covered rent fully”
For which period?
2/13-3/12?
3/1-3/31?
What does the lease say for which day of the month rent is due?

i work and always plan to get my degree. i am actively paying off the bill. i qualify for in-state tuition at the beginning of the summer and will be enrolling at the cc. i am asking for management advice so that the bill is not so crushing. thanks though.
i guess that i didn't clarify well enough in the post, this is not debt from a loan, this is a bill from the school for room/board/tuition. i cannot afford to go back to school right now, i dropped out because i could not afford to stay any longer.

Gotcha, I’ll just try to give them a call tomorrow about it. Worst case I know it will post anyway.

So it is a variable rate? What is it now and what are the adjustment steps?

They've asked for first full month +pro-rated first month, last month, and deposit.

Yea the silver line now stops at Dulles Airport. I think Ashburn is two stops after that if that helps.

It's not a loan, it's a bill. Last year total I made ~$22,000 for the whole year, work is relatively inconsistent for me; i've applied to over 100 jobs since November and haven't landed one. My goal is to land a full-time job with ~$16/hr wage sometime in the next couple of months. Until mid-May I am doing campaign work for ~ 7.5 hours a week for $20/hr

Every landlord you've ever had has asked you to pay your first month's rent at the end of your first month there instead of before move in..?

Not "just a chase" thing.
But now I'm just repeating myself.
> My buddy who banks with a local CU says when he deposited his check it only took 1 day for it to process.
Then it sounds like if you want what your friend has, you should consider moving to the CU.
> The weird thing is I’ve deposited a big check at chase before but was fine?
Different financial institutions, different policies, different rules, different quirks.

Make sure you REALLY understand the numbers if you’re going to go the real estate route.
And make sure you have a very detailed agreement and a stomach to enforce it if it’s something you’re going to do w friends

> He’s probably referring to the VRE. Not the metro
Ah, oop. I sometimes genuinely forget there's a difference. I see rail, my brain goes "Metro".
Thhey extended one of the lines to VA, yeah.. maybe to Dulles? I forget how the better airport (National bad, no food before the gates :C ) relates to Ashburn's locality.

I recommend the above guide as well.
Just sit tight, be consistent, and in 10,15,20 years you’ll see where you are.
Investing is boring.

Someone else can put it on their credit card.
And you should not have a joint bank account with your mother.

Chase knows things about your employer that your friends CU is oblivious to.
