As buildings that are majority rent stabilized all eventually become decrepit and go BK they should be sold as coops to the current owners. Then the owners can build wealth. Create there homes as they want them and be responsible for the upkeep of the buildings. Stop the cycle of rent and make people homeowners.

I don't know, if I were some fancy NYC skyscraper builder I'd probably figure out how the foundation was built before I started. Still though. If they weren't responsible for the foundation, then it's hard to see how they're responsible for the lean.

Also I think it's Pizzarotti, the article spells both ways.

It would be cool to feature more private property trees. There are some impressive specimens near me, and it would add a lot of species diversity.

Even without private property though, the official map has far more trees than the OP’s map. Even just looking at Brooklyn it’s 177,293 in the OP and 227,812 on the official map.

That map sadly only features trees on public land. On my property I have a fig, Pear and Crabapple tree, none of which are counted. The crabapple in particular is a favorite with local bees, and it's blossoms in spring are a magnificent sight. I feel bad that they're on private property and no one gets to see them. Anyway, thanks for the link....

One needn't have a degree in finance and economics to know that the surge in migrants has an unsustainable burden on the city's budget. I'm equally concerned with less immediate costs. Those children will have to be educated, so bilingual services will be needed and some schools will probably see bigger surges. Classroom sizes will be impacted. Principals' budgets will be impacted if they need more teachers. Any migrant might need health care at some point. The effects will linger for a long time....

So, the construction site gets to choose their own company that they pay to "oversee" their work. And you expect them to actually act independently and keep everything in code? Sweet summer child...of course they aren't doing that at every site. They're directly paid by the people who need the go ahead to do whatever they want.
