Samsung didn't just recall and replace, they discontinued the Galaxy Note 7 altogether.

I think they've always had them. At least since I got mine last year.

Reputable companies vs not reputable companies.
When Samsung did put out a phone model that had these kind of problems they had to do a product recall and replace them because otherwise Samsung's reputation would have continued to sink and less and less people would have bought their phones.
Of the things you listed the vapes would be the biggest concern to me but at least those would be smaller batteries than what we're talking about with e-bikes and scooters.

I mean banning lithium ion batteries is pretty crazy. Imagine not being able to have a laptop or modern cell phone in your building.

That was the surprise to me. I visited a couple times but outside of the novelty, I couldn't see a reason to ever visit one.

They basically evacuate the area and then someone wearing protective gear like an SCBA (air pack) goes in, opens the door and they allow it to ventilate with no one nearby to potentially get hurt.

Yes, but what I’m looking forward to (and what experimentjon is talking about) is an auto reloading function/feature. Previously if you connect the commuter card to EasyPauXxpress metrocard it was automated. But I don’t think OMNY cards has auto reload feature yet?

If this was indeed a suicide, I wish they would leave a note to warn first responders before they become sick or potentially die too.
Sad situation either way.

Try again. Expect the city to ban cheap unsafe batteries instead. Ebikes with UL batteries don't catch fire. Period

That's such a disingenuous and hostile description of the sub. Vast majority there agree with banning illegal batteries. I haven't seen ONE upvoted post about hiding NON UL certified batteries. Blanket banning ebikes with great batteries are no different than banning your laptop with a great battery.

OMNY cards let you "share" to hit fare caps (like sharing unlimited cards).

Uh, you do, to pay. That’s the point. If you don’t like it, then you don’t go in.
