Public unions have too much power, and no worse case than the NYPD. Offended that people are fed up wtih police misconduct/unaccountability, they pullback on doing their jobs. Overall crime doesn't even increase, but with pandemic consequences get rise in violent crime and fearmongering. Public backlash gets cop-friendly 'tough on crime' turd of a mayor. Crime gets significantly worse... well done?

Friendly reminder that the looting and associated damage was disgusting, even before considering that NYPD was opting to not deal with it, even the damage estimate is well below what the police payout every year to settle misconduct cases...

Not that I like NYPost as a source, but figured in this case no one is going to question bias given the topic.

Yeah but it was always like that.

And to be honest it's more complicated than that. Blacks and Latinos live together all over the Bronx, uptown Manhattan, Bushwick, parts of Queens like Jamaica. Asians and Latinos live in the same neighborhoods in much of Western/Central Queens. Whites and Asians live together in Northeast Queens.

So there are plenty of neighborhoods where at least 2 or 3 racial groups live together, but if you're looking for some sort of Sesame Street situation where a large number of whites, blacks, Latinos, and Asians all live together and interact, you won't find it.

5 yrs ago there wasn’t discovery reform that buried prosecutors in paperwork and attached speedy trial dismissal as the one and only remedy (practically speaking that’s how it played out despite what the statute says) for their failure to keep up with 10x their normal work load.

I anticipate many of the arrests under this new felony will be downgraded except for the most serious ones, much like what happens to many felony arrests.

How dare they move to a neighborhood they can afford and attempt to be polite and accepting of their new neighbors, especially with the color skin they have.

New York is so easy to afford, they could live anywhere they want, and then to not even be able to explain the actions of the millions of other people that look like them?! Disgusting!
