I live directly across a lake from Fox Lake. The entire town is a collection of drunks, same thing here. Although Fox Lake has way more bars and boat places because it's sandwiched between multiple lakes.

If you pull a car over after 9-10 pm anywhere around here, you have a 50/50 chance of finding a drunk. But in fox lake, it's probably closer to 80/20.

As a Catholic I have the right to try to change it from the inside. Change is slow in an organization that is 2000 years old but it will come or we don't survive. Saying Catholic should be synonymous with child abuse is quite a bigoted thing to say. I should be synonymous with child abuse? Hateful.

When abusers get power they are good at holding it. Personally it is clear the Catholic Church shouldn’t exist. Any other organization that systematically raped children like that, covered it up, and fought against accountability when caught would be shut down, the only reason they still exist is people clinging to religion.

Just letting people know exactly how fucked it is there. My high school had a bar across the street from the front entrance. As an adult, though, I see it was pure genius. Teachers need to unwind after dealing with hormonal teenagers would walk out to their cars thinking "I need a drink after today." and then see the bar. Now they have methadone clinics next to bars in the area so you know its just getting worse.

That one’s not true. Champagne can also come from California, legally. Part of negotiations over trade labeling ~18 years ago. Producers in California that were already labeling their product Champagne were/are allowed to continue to label it as such indefinitely.
