I was looking at houses in Windsor Canada about 25 years ago. We went into this upscale neighborhood and everything was covered in black mold. More likely, hotel staff opens the "trash" bag, and without asking anyone purposefully feeds the passports, one by one, into the shred bin. Not ignorance in my opinion.

Still the construction of more of these barrel houses is starting to make things worse. Being a good neighbor is doing something to mitigate the issue.
