The purpose of vetoing punishment due to authority mishandling isn't to blame the legal system, but to blame the cops. The criminal faces repercussions from committing a crime, but a cop should also face repercussions from abusing their power. If the way a cop executes their duty is irrelevant to a case, it would never be brought up and nobody would care as much about it.

The dude got shot and was hospitalized. Putting them in jail would be redundant

Jesus christ, in what world is putting ANYTHING in your own mouth grounds for getting pulled out of the car and thrown on the ground. Also i think its terrifying that people like you think its ok for "trained" police officers to freak out and do whatever they want while us regular people are the ones that need to stay calm the whole time while cops pile on top of you for, again, literally no reason, or else you'll be shot.
