Actually it is better to kill people that have already been productive and will never be so again, so you should take a machinegun to an eldery home and scream "This is to pay the debt!" while you play the national anthem and eat bbq ribs, and when you're done tell all the families to "get over it" so they can get back to being productive.

It's not implausible. The entire South China Sea is basically a fight over what rock formation technically constitutes an "island" so Japan/Korea/Taiwan/China can claim a wider fishing territory. Think the fight for Pluto, if Pluto being a planet meant a country would gain or lose billions of dollars

I have not read the article yet myself but your comment is reasonable. We accidentally installed a non-compliant fence on our property (not in Texas) and I called the day after receiving the letter to find out our options since they had said we had X amount of weeks to remove it. The building inspector sighed and said, “listen, just the fact that you’re calling right now means that we’re not going to enforce that timeline”. It’s a boilerplate letter and as long as you’re taking action to remedy, they’ll work with you.

I'm not sure I understand the question correctly. It's not assumed that the criminal would have received the minimun sentence. Actually most cases of reduction I have heard of were in the upper range. 10 to 12 years that get lowered 2 or 3 years.

The court compares the original conviction with how they would convict with the new law, all facts remaining the same. If this results in a lower sentence then they have to reduce it.

Its considered unethical for a doctor to have romantic relations with a concurrent patient. In general people expect their doctor to keep things professional. So it's a bad look for him and the hospital.

I actually have less issue with the consensual act in the bathroom than I do with the doctor having an inappropriate conversation with a patient as it would make someone who wasn't interested very uncomfortable.
