She said his transformation is effortless in the story, implying hers takes more effort. Pretty sure that's what "dressing up" means; she's happier with Derrick because she doesn't have to put as much effort to look totally human

I like to believe that she chose you for the house because she knew one day your husband would become abusive and that it would save your life like it did for her. She did say that only a certain kind of person wants the house and your husband fit that type. The type of person who would do horrible things with it.
That being said, it seems only right that she would be laid to rest downstairs in the hot spot with the rest of them if that's what she requests, because if not for her, you would have had no easy escape from that abusive relationship.

Tbh, I hoped that maple survived. She didn't hurt you as a kid or as an adult, despite being alone for so long and so hungry. She really cared, yes she feeds on people, but I think you could have saved her, feed her bad people.

I'm wondering whether you could find someone safe to conduct another seance so you could talk to Martina again. Maybe one of her friends could give you some direction? I doubt Martina would have discussed taxes with them, but if they're close in age and background, it's possible they were raised with the same beliefs that led Martina to take this stuff seriously in the first place.

So I'm an expert in this type of behavior, what you are dealing with is a dementor who has lost his patronus, it's best to give this creature back before his master casts crucio on you..... It's very painful. Just my opinion
