You should’ve fled the house and gone to the police as soon as it happened. Even later you could’ve, they’ll believe the person who goes to police over the person who doesn’t.

Kirby isn't responding to the knocker in a happy way. Keep Kirby and ignore the knocker. Even if it's Kirby's former owner, it's no longer human - perhaps putting up a cross will deter the knocker from bothering you two.

I have a 4 year old black lab. Not the cheapest pet, but he's worth every penny. I wouldn't give Kirby back if I was OP. It sounds like she doesn't want to return to her old owner
