No, because social security is a taxpayer-funded retirement plan that all Americans pay into. A city pension is a further tax burden on the citizens of a city or county. Why should they pay for the retirement of a criminal if he or she was posing as a cop while engaging in crime?

The former cop would still get SS payments, and the citizens of the city/county wouldn’t have to continue to pay money to someone who betrayed their community’s trust.

I'm not being disingenuous. There are far more DUIs committed than shootings. Your average run of the mill normal citizen is far more likely to have a few drinks and make the dangerous choice to drive drunk. Sure not everyone, but everyone is also not killing other people.....but safety first.....we must make our laws in order to ensure the lowest among us don't have the opportunity to commit crimes. I'm coming for your weed next.

That's the heart. Everything is about being pragmatic. Let's nominate sucky candidates because they have the best chance of winning. Let's let economic concerns dictate our domestic and global activity because that way we'll remain strong. Let's only fight battles we're sure we can win.

You fight because it's the right thing to do.
