It’s both.

That’s what China says. In reality they want a censored internet for their citizens and full control of what their people sees online. US is heading down the same path once we start banning apps and websites from countries that are not US allies.

This isn’t a personal freedom or free speech issue, it’s a data and influence issue. If China doesn’t trust Western social networks having their citizen’s data or subject to their algorithms, than we shouldn’t trust the CCP’s either. We wouldn’t have allowed the USSR to buy NBC, and I fail to see how this is any different.

> Why are we playing to a double standard
Because I’d very much for us to have a different standard than China when it comes to personal freedom and free speech.

I would recommend diversifying your portfolio with an investment in Bitcoin, but you strike me as more of a Buttcoin type of investor.

I realized he was an idiot back in 08 when he told everyone to sell as the market was bottoming out.

As long as the executives, employees and shareholders aren't being bailed out by government money, it's fine.

It’s cliche and obviously there’s more nuance here but…they’re called the Greatest Generation for a reason. The things those men…boys, a lot of em really, did, saved humanity as we know it. I’m not a real “patriot” or anything but WWII and the men who fought in it fill me with a very intense and awesome reverence and pride.

False, the FDIC is not backed by the treasury but they do invest in treasury securities. The FDIC is completely funded by member banks.

The Deposit Insurance Fund is backed by the U.S. Treasury. The FDIC was bailed out in the 1980's and again after the 2008 Banking Crisis. So, insured depositors are still protected.

>How many deposits in Oklahoma are even uninsured?
Think about how much land, cattle and feed is out there and where all those ranchers bank. Then imagine what all is at stake if that goes to pot.
Its not great.

They blended it in really well with the pigeon's natural colors. Though the edges could have been lightened up a touch. I'm guessing they don't tailor the paint job to the individual bird.

Insane that he was 24 at the time piloting a massive bomber. As if that wasn't impressive enough, he had the composure to save the lives of his crewmates while sacrificing his own.

The basic thing to understand about Wall Street is that stocks go up and down largely based on how people feel about things, not based on any real quantitative reasoning.
A company posts record profits? Stock goes up. The amount it goes up isn't based on how big the profits are really other than the bigger the number the more people like it.
If you want to see this stupidity in action, at one point Tesla was valued more than every other car company on the planet combined.
