There is no such thing as a free market. Never has been, never will be.
On one hand there will always be someone who wants to manipulate and control the market. On the other hand we've pretty well established by now that neurologically, the way that we expect consumers in a "free market" to behave doesn't happen. And between those two realities, the market is there to convince us, quite literally, that the market is fair, while making it as unfair as it possibly can.

The former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver, who was staying at the Marriott Renaissance Phoenix Hotel & Spa to cover Super Bowl LVII for the NFL Network when the alleged encounter took place, held a press conference in Dallas with his lawyers during which they shared the security video. He’s been accused of asking the woman if she “knew anything about having a ‘big Black man inside of [her].’” “I don’t speak like that. I’ve never spoken like that,” Irvin told the reporters assembled before him. “I totally deny saying that.”
It alleges Irvin made the woman uncomfortable by touching her arm, and that the two other hotel employees noticed a “look of concern” on her face. Before the woman left, Irvin told her he’d come back and find her when she wasn’t working, according to the Marriott filing.
“She bad, She bad, I want to hit that,” Irvin said, slapping himself in the face and saying to himself, “Keep it together, Mike,” according to one of the woman’s colleagues cited in the filing.

I have extreme doubts about that.

They already held the official ceremony. The marriage is legal. Divorce is going to be expensive. Kailasa wants half of all assets and custody of all the children. /s
But seriously, how was Swami Nithyananda going to profit from this?

Yeah, I'm always mixed on his motivations. Was it xenophobia, was he angry at Tik-Toker's making it look like no one attended his event? (be reserving all the tickets and not going)
But this is one of those things where, regardless of motivation, he had the right instinct or idea of what needed to be done.

You’ll want to buy a house BEFORE the rates crash. As soon as rates fall, house prices are going to skyrocket again.
If you are psychic and can time up your purchase to a couple of months before they announce an intention to drop rates, you’ll probably get your best possible deal.
Eat the high rates for a couple of years, then refinance at a lower rate if/when they do come down

There have always been guardrails on the free market such as child labor laws or other consumer protections. If we wanted a true free market we would allow everyone to freely immigrate to the US and have no minimum wage. That is pure capitalism.
This is still a free market but this would be just another type of common guardrail like we already have. The aim is to protect consumers privacy and national interests (such as if we were drawn into a conflict with China)

Thx. I re-skimmed the article. Wondered whether it was this incident or prior, cause I didn't see that the first time.
He's an idiot.
