I understand exactly what you’re saying. But the rule of “innocent until proven guilty” still stands true. The city council is not going to slander and say shit about him cause if somehow the police fuck up the investigation and he gets off free, then they set themselves up for a civil lawsuit for defamation. Again I’m not disagreeing with you. I think they could have left the “thank you” part out.

In China, they have an AI that scans your face when you open the age restricted games to verify your identity. However this appears to be geared to appeal more towards western app users since it sounds more like a voluntary thing:

>"TikTok announced a number of changes for all users, including the
ability to set customized screen time limits for each day of the week
and allowing users to set a schedule to mute notifications. The company
is also launching a sleep reminder to help people plan when they want to
be offline at night. For the sleep feature, users will be able to set a
time, and when the time arrives, a pop-up will remind the user that
it’s time to log off."

I dunno. Why's your first thought with this story to try and link it to a prominent gay politician? Why're you linking to a writer for the Post Millennial, a right wing publication that's playing into the moral panic over drag queens? Why's this addon mark your account as LGBT-hostile? Why's your whole post feel like it's leaning into the right's ongoing campaign to pedojacket the LGBT community? Why's it feel like you thought you were being slick, but when people saw right through you, you figured you'd act taken aback, and the hope is people who're none the wiser'll think the downvotes're an overreaction if not an active attempt to cover something up?

A short proof of concept flight with one hydrogen-powered engine and one soon-to-be-outdated ICE (for flight safety and comparison). The hydrogen-fueled engine was less noisy and produced less vibrations. They've developed a retrofit kit to use with existing planes and fuel-capsules that ship on existing infrastructure. Sounds like the tech was developed in France, but it's being pre-ordered by many companies arpubd the world. I wonder what pressure we can use to for our local airlines to get on the list?

That’s not proven, the reporting that no one helped Kitty Genovese wasn’t being truthful (and I’m bummed Watchmen 2 hasn’t corrected this). There are multiple ways you can help someone. If that way is filming someone who asks to be filmed in protest and that’s the route you decide to take especially if there are many people around and so many options and suddenly you’re thrust into a crazy scenario recording that scenario might be helpful later, or it might not, hard to say because HEY THAT GUYS ON FIRE. QUICK DO SOMETHING. MAYBE. Maybe they’re terminally ill and they want to die like this. Maybe this is some stunt, maybe he’s mentally ill but can’t be admitted against their will until there’re a proven danger, best to document that. It’s an uneasy calculus and filming people in distress like when they’re with the police is not always the worst option.
