My great granddaughter will soon be finishing up her first year of public school in a Bergen County school district that has zero tolerance for bad behavior. Multi language monthly notices are sent home and emailed detailing the district’s strict policy, procedures and penalties. My eldest child is a high school principal and his district has expelled repeat student offenders. The evidence has been cell phone videos taken by other students. Student cell phone videos have also been used as evidence to suspend and to start the lengthy teacher termination process.

Yeah that was always frustrating. Especially because you really don’t know what you owe until they weigh and ring you up, so I always had to take out way more cash than I usually would have lol

Yeah, I’ve been hearing individual stories like this from all over. I have friends in NYC/westchester area that are both parents and teachers describing similar problems in affluent districts. I haven’t heard much from Jersey folks, so I wondered if the state is a bit more immune to these problems.
Which district were your friends in? We moved from the SOMA district and I still wonder how things are going there.

Yep definitely a possibility. Stabilize your rent, add intention to socializing and if that doesn't work, do something more drastic.
I'm in Bloomfield, what are your hobbies?

I love blue hour. As a photographer/videographer, I always tell people this is the best time of day. It's better than Golden Hour.

I live in 2 Willow South on Bloomfield. Candidly, was a mistake to move into a corporate owned "luxury" complex.

This is true and I'm hesitant to leave a more comfortable life in New Jersey on the assumption that geography will make most of the difference.

NJ has a lot of towns from before cars. They're pretty walkable. Lambertville is the classic example.
I live in East Rutherford down the street from this shot. It's actually really walkable. Bus and train are both walking distance from most of the town. When I want to go to American Dream I can take a bus to get there. It's pretty great these days TBH

He's V. Roche in Whitehouse Station.
Bishop's supermarket started as a butcher shop. Their butchers are pretty good.
Edit: I started going to Roche because a farmer I buy beef from sends her cows to him. When I want lamb, I'll tell him and he'll call me a few weeks later when it's ready. I can be waiting a while if I'm asking for something out of season.

Ironically NJ probably has more walkable communities than almost every other state. There are maybe 5 states that have any cities that are actually walkable at all.

You bring up a good point! Red Bank, Atlantic Highlands, Jersey City all come to mind.
Do you know what those other states are by chance? Just curious
