If you live near certain zones like the delaware river gap, or atlantic city etc, or if you commute frequently through a toll road are some examples.
Here’s NJ’s discounts. If you dont see yourself eligible for these, you’re probably better off with the PA one you currently have.

What discounts do you typically get? I have one from PA from the time when I stayed there, no fees as such, but I do go into NYC may be a total of 10-15 times a year, will the discount be worth it?

A lot of people in this thread are dead wrong. Nail holes and painting are wear and tear and they definitely can’t be charged to the tenant. Also, cleaning, unless it’s excessively dirty, is once again wear and tear and is the responsibility of the landlord.
Additionally, in New Jersey, if a security deposit isn’t returned within 14 days, the landlord is suppose to give DOUBLE the amount back to the tenant.
You can go to small claims court but it’s probably not worth your time or energy.
This is why, in this state, I will usually just not pay the last months rent and tell the landlord to use the security deposit ok it.

They’re actually doing air blasting of the sea floor to test stability for the future windmills. It effects the marine life, confuses, disorients and also causes them to flee, beach, collide with boats, etc. . But our government saying nothing is amiss here…🤮

Please keep in mind that NJ can/does have extreme weather as well. It's very hot/humid in the Summer and can be frigid cold/snow in the Winter. And the JC/Hoboken area floods (depending on where you live). It's an incredible state otherwise.

Check out rent control towns so your rent doesn't get unfairly jacked up every year. Certain nice buildings in Morristown fit the bill... including Hamilton Court and Blair House and a few on Kemble. All are in or near downtown Mo-town.

While little is known about any direct physiological effects of sonar waves on marine species, evidence shows that whales will swim hundreds of miles, rapidly change their depth (sometime leading to bleeding from the eyes and ears), and even beach themselves to get away from the sounds of sonar.

Go to MoMA and check out Starry Night, then head over to Del Friscos nearby

This has been used, for years, all over the world. For many different reasons. No mass death of sea life.
Related: I find it amazing that a lot of the new "save the whales!" crowd intersects with the "drill baby drill" crowd, and neither could have given a fuck about sea life twenty years ago.

The apartment cleaning and new tenant rent charges may not be legal. Look for organizations that help tenants. They’ll know more about this then we will

NJ is such a trash fire.
acoreilly87 t1_j9arw9m wrote
I’m going to throw my hometown of Hackensack into the mix. It’s a little farther from NYC, but still very close. It has a good mix of ethnicities and lifestyles, good food, and is safe. The fire department is top-notch, and the schools are very underrated. Rents have been rising, but are still lower than JC or Hoboken, and buying a house or condo is probably within reach if you decide to stay.
Nowhere is perfect, but it’s pretty good.

Totally agree with you on this one, and what's more Hoboken and JC will be adversely affected in coming years by climate change, worse than most other parts of the state.

Via Carota on Grove Street. Italian but not your typical Italian food. They don't have anything with red sauce but everything there is exceptionally good. Or go to one of the other 4 restaurants owned by these same two ladies.

Because it’s an article on Jersey City rent, not Watergate. Nobody is “all over it” because nobody really cares.
I understand respecting the NYTimes. I’m a paid subscriber. But there’s a point at which something flies so blatantly in the face of common sense and the tiniest bit of research that it’s too much. Especially when they merely cite one external article that doesn’t bother to explain itself.
Seriously though, do you actually believe the average rent in JC for 1 and 2 bedrooms is $5500? That’s insanity. Pick your favorite luxury tower in the most expensive part of JC and see if it’s true.
vocabularylessons t1_j9ampgg wrote
You can find a 2bd/1ba <$3,500 easily in JC Heights. Would suggest living near the 9th St light rail or near Riverview Park. It's also possible in Downtown but in an older (but nice) building. All the new construction in DT, JSQ, and the waterfront in JC is fairly expensive. Hoboken is all around expensive. The Heights isn't as well-connected as Downtown but it's got it's own vibe and plenty to do, and you can always take the light rail around Hoboken/JC/Weehawken or transfer to the PATH to go into Downtown/Midtown Manhattan.
In terms of safety, JC Heights is very family oriented. Obvs keep your wits about you, don't be careless in any city. But I've had no issues and often see young families walking at 8pm/9pm and people walking their dogs until 10pm. I've had no issue on the light rail and walking from 9th St to Riverview.

Clearly.
So where are the articles debunking the thing cited by the well respected paper of record that is the New York Times? Seems like any rival paper would be all over that

Do your museum runs midtown or downtown. But at night, at Columbia university on 116th and Amsterdam there’s a little bridge right beside the law school. It is the highest point of New York City and you just look down on a good night. You see some amazing shit. You can eat around there for dinner. It is not as extravagant as downtown but it’s cheaper and also very safe because of Columbia. Just my two cents
