I live in the town next to Dover. There are some beautiful old houses there. Unfortunately the town gets a bad rap. The school system is overcrowded they are renting space in other towns to accommodate. Some are going to mine hill and I hear they are going to rent out the old American Christian school in Wharton. There was a bid to build a larger school in Dover but it was turned down.

Someone else mentioned mine hill, which I think is a worse idea than Dover. Mine hill has zero amenities - no library, no high school. Their Facebook group is just a giant rant about how the town doesn’t care - more than others.

Rockaway is a solid choice but houses are going to be a bit higher. I’d also recommend Wharton and the Roxbury towns.

What town does your family live in? Most places here are right off the highway so it’s usually pretty easy to get to one town or the other.

Any questions, please reach out. I’ve been living in the area a long time

If you live in North Jersey, check out the one in Riverdale. That’s the best one in my opinion. Don’t bother with the one in Kearney, it’s a disaster in that store plus the fact that car jackings happen all the time in the parking lot

My wife is always asking me about the phantom smoke we encounter on the roads. Her two newest favorite questions to me are, "do you smell that?" And "where's it coming from?" Like I'm in the cipher

Here is a background if you're misremembering, NJ wasnt compliant until 2020: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Real_ID_Act

Also checking Google News Archives, there are no articles mentioning Real ID requirements in NJ prior to 2008. https://www.google.com/search?q=new+jersey+%22real+id%22&rlz=1C1RXQR_enUS1041US1041&biw=1261&bih=839&source=lnt&tbs=cdr%3A1%2Ccd_min%3A1%2F1%2F2001%2Ccd_max%3A1%2F1%2F2009&tbm=nws

Here is the first mention of REAL ID on NJ.com from 2009: https://www.nj.com/reporter/2009/12/somerset_county_identification.html

Did you by chance have a license in antoher state and transfer it to NJ in 2006? Or did your license have a star that you had assumed meant it as compliant, when may have just been decorative?

Not when you react 1.5 seconds slow and decide to step on the gas 1.5 seconds later because you feel justified in your delayed reaction. Something tells me if you cant react to a light you aint moving quicker than my foot and steering. If you wanna drive slow like an ass hole you shoulda moved to Pennsylvania.

I hate to say it but you are in a no-win situation. They will find something else to complaint about - if it is not parking, it will be the garbage cans, snow removal, noise. You just hope the police stop responding to their calls - or just do a drive by to calm them.
