23 - 1 chief = 22 22 - 1 admin officer = 21 21 - 1 detective = 20 There are other required administrative positions, but let's skip those. That leaves us with 20 patrol officers/sergeants There are 168 hours in a week divided by 40 hours is 4.2 shifts to cover. So to have one single officer at all times you need to hire 5. You probably want at least 2 though as the whole purpose is safety, so that is 10. Obviously you need more than the bare minimum though as there is times officers will be on sick leave or vacation, so another 5 to have proper staffing.

So that leaves us with 5 you could get rid of.

So about a $500K savings, will that stop your town from bankruptcy?

Dover is not dangerous or a dump like a Newark or something like that, but it is obviously less nice than the rest of the county. Its schools are also lower ranked than the rest of the county.

There's a reason it is lower priced.

Get a lawyer in the town you got the tickets in. I was about 30 minutes south of home and got a couple of tickets. Found a lawyer in that town. First thing he says, I know the prosecutor. That went a long way to helping me out.

No you won’t go to jail lol you can get a lawyer to fight it for you they will knock it down to lesser charges. Lesser meaning “no point” tickets. These tickets will cost more but the important thing is to keep points off of your license as this will increase your insurance premiums sky high. You will save more in the long run taking the no point tickets. You could also try to fight it yourself, it’s difficult to do but not impossible and nj has set up a system online to appeal tickets njcourts.gov

lol no way are you going to jail lol.. that's not even an option man unless you endangered someone physically. Just be honest, don't talk back, and if you have nothing else on your record you'll be fined.

I just realized that some parts of Rockaway have a Dover postal code/address but go to Rockaway schools and Morris Knolls. If that is the area you are looking at it is a really nice area and schools are good. It’s the area around Germania Park. That would be my first choice for that Dover/Mine Hill area.

Wouldn’t be my first choice. Check out Mine Hill - they go to Dover High but have their own, good elementary school program. Most people I know in Mine Hill send their kids to private school once they hit high school, though.

The parking patrol is merciless there. I park a few streets down for free. More or less for peace of mind. It's a beautiful area so I make it a day when I head there. Don't want to think about the meter. Lots of little cafes and odd stores, cute area to walk around.

No jail time (this isn't Virginia), you may not even need a lawyer, when you go to court they will plea it down to "unsafe driving", which is a higher fine. But NJ insurers know this and will still jack up your next rate, they view the known unsafe driving plea as the equivalent of a 4 point ticket.

Invest in a good radar detector along with running Waze when you want to speed, if you have deeper pockets you can invest in a laser/lidar jammer system but probably not worth it unless you do a lot of parkway or turnpike driving.
