My grandfather had a tradition of hitting the small concrete poles and saying every curse word known to man at the Ship Bottom Wawa parking lot.

I lived in Hackensack for 4 years until 2018. I still have friends who live in the area, and things are changing pretty quickly these days.

First, I’ve driven by Royal Towers a billion times (Juicy Platters is great, btw). It looks a bit run down and is in a lousy location if you don’t have a car. But that Stop and Shop is pretty good, and I used the dry cleaners in that plaza as well.

I lived on Prospect Ave. I would recommend living on Prospect. Extremely safe, nice to walk in the evenings, excellent bus service for NYC commutes. You’ll still probably need a car though. You’ll be close to all the Paramus malls, especially the Whole Foods, which was my favorite supermarket in the area. Chit Chat Diner is one of the best diners in the state. It’s a take out/delivery paradise. Walking to the train (Essex St) is doable but you’ll have to cross dicier areas of town.

It’s definitely a city on the rise. Tons of development, especially downtown. Great for your 20’s if you work in NJ/can’t afford Jersey City/Hoboken/NYC.

Just did a quick google. Its on the southern side of the sack. A lot of the development and "rejuvenation" of the sack is more on the northern end around the hospital. Its also more residential in the north, and happening than the south.

Its safe, worst you have to worry about is someone busting into your car, but if you can swing it, especially if you are younger, i'd look more towards the northern end of town. That is where you will find the good bars, food, etc, and is more convenient for the train.

really. You've never heard anyone comment a negative opinion about a trend, ever. That's unbelievable, in the "I do not believe you" sense, not the "That's impressive" sense of the term

I'm not really sure who you surround yourself with, but the people I've grown up with in NJ don't generally go on Reddit just to mock someone's style choices. I don't feel morally superior, I'm just not going to make a post that tells people what they should look like. I feel that's a shallow behavior and not representative of an entire state. But you're right. If that's the behavior you want to be part of, I shouldn't judge - you go be you

I point the blame at Patrick Mahomes. He sparked this Modern Mullet craze and it entered a grey area where some people got confused and thought full blownsies were back in biz.

Dude, you lied about what NJ was like, to make yourself feel morally superior and when I pointed out how that just wasn't true you shifted to another talking point to make yourself feel morally superior.

And now you're trying to say that you like people who aren't judgy after being ridiculously judgy.

If you want to be around people who don't mock horrible fashion choices perhaps you'd feel more at home in Tennessee or something
