I hated Christie for that. He lied about fear of overruns because The Big Dig in Boston was going on at the same time and had 200% cost overruns. Christie knew that. The Feds covered nearly all of it. I lived there from start to finish and the improvements it made in traffic and pollution was beyond imagination.

The one giant pain for commuters was that tolls went up on the Mass Pike(and still are)because the state was on the hook for a chunk of the overruns.

And somehow they are still a tiny fraction of Jersey. $7.50 to go the entire length of the Mass Pike. And in so so much better condition than the NJ Turnpike.

Still, Christie was witness to the Feds paying for most of the insane overruns on the project. Diverting that money was a total scam.

DC is one of my favorite cities! It’s so fun. If you’re looking for a fun place to go out, U street is super cool and fun! DC has awesome places to eat too, museums are all free or inexpensive. Some you do need to do a reserve pass for - totally worth it. Georgetown is amazing to visit too! It’s about a four hour drive from central Jersey with traffic, or you could take a train from Newark. Cannot recommend the city enough.

Isn’t it more reasonable to say that Black and Hispanic people are more likely to drive vehicles under disrepair because they are statistically poorer than non Black and Hispanic people? Maybe we should have some sort of agency that inspects vehicles for safety violations? Like a motor vehicle agency? They could even do those inspections on an annual basis!

Oh wait, most state motor vehicle agencies no longer do safety inspections because… reasons?

OC thrives on 2 groups: old people looking for a quiet vacation, and families with young children looking for a family-friendly vacation. Loud teens vaping/getting drunk/smoking weed on the boardwalk are not only not part of either of the 2 groups mentioned, but those 2 groups tend to reallllly hate loud/obnoxious teens. Makes sense OC wants to put a stop to it

As much as I don't like Chris Christie for Cancelling the project. We kinda got a better project out of it. Everything from Newark to New York is going to be upgraded. Something to keep in mind. At the current moment, only 26 trains can navigate the tunnel and hour after the tunnels are complete. They'll be able to triple that number. Some estimates put it at 45-60 trains and hour.

First, no one is saying to stop enforcing vehicle safety standards. We just do not need cops enforcing non-violent scenarios when we can easily have cameras or drones in place to catch vehicle violations. I would even support reallocating police funds to traffic enforcement agencies so that they can expand and acquire the technology and support to do their jobs.

Second, we should limit the situations where we use cops since they have been proven time and time again that THEY ARE RACIST. They use traffic violations as a cover to act on racial profiling. Studies show that black or hispanics are more likely to be pulled over and that they are more likely to be ticketed than white drivers. Below are two links that show the data on this issue:

I am biased, because I live here, but I also suggest Baltimore. When I lived in NJ I would visit frequently and since moving here I only love it more. There is so, so much more than the Inner Harbor. In fact, I wouldn’t suggest more than an afternoon at the Harbor. The aquarium is fantastic and the ships are cool to see but we also have incredible museums, Fort McHenry, Poe’s grave, the original Washington Monument, The Peabody Library, the first Roman Catholic Church in America (it’s just pretty, I’m not religious but they do still hold service if you are), beautiful parks, many historical buildings and amazing architecture, and really amazing food. I would be happy to give any suggestions.

>Under Murphy, we're in a much better fiscal position, and federal support for Gateway with Biden's infrastructure plan is better now than it was back then.

I'm not sure I can agree with "a much better fiscal position" comment. Murphy borrowed BILLIONS ($10 billion) to fund the State's pension obligations, and to improve cash position, which almost every governor has done. Frankly, if it wasn't for the COVID funds and other federal funds that were handed out in the last couple of years, we would be in really bad shape.
