I see a single therapist (not apart of a practice) who specializes is EMDR for PTSD/childhood abuse survivors specifically.

I see an APRN for medication management at Generations Psychiatry. They're in Branford, but I do telehealth. I've met 2 different APRNs both were amazing. I only switched due to insurance issues. I've seen a lot of psychiatrists and this is the first one I feel like doesn't push pills.

For example I take a medication for nightmares. I also work with my therapist on coping skills. Last time I told the APRN the nightmares had started coming back but I wanted to wait it out before upping my dose again. She totally agreed, keep working with my therapist, and we can always go up if needed.

This is very different from other psychiatrists who push adding on multiple medicatoons and are always increasing dosages. I feel much more respected.

I think they also have a therapist on staff!

I feel that there should be NO financial incentive to ticket moving or standing violations. They should ticket the living crap out of moving violations because they threaten the lives of the citizens of the city. They don't get $100 for every mugger they take off the street. The system is ridiculous.

Use Psychology Today. You can filter based on a number of criteria, including presenting issues, gender of therapist, insurances accepted, etc. If they have a website, there will be a link to it. You can see pictures of their offices, see their credentials, and learn more than you will off your insurance directory. Call a few and speak with them. In 10-15 minutes on the phone, you'll get a sense of who seems like a better fit than others.

I actually asked this a couple years ago to two police officers who were walking by a red light outside my residence that gets run all the time. Their response was that they mostly only respond to severe situations and have backed off a lot in the wake of George Floyd. Makes no sense to me. I agree, even if it's not income, enforcement makes it a much less dangerous place. Such a dumb over reaction.

I had a good experience with a GI doctor with Yale Health (employee health plan, not student). But it took a long time because everything was backed up (this was last fall). If you happen to need a referral for gallbladder / pancreas / biliary system issues, dm me for a few names. IMO the key is getting past the health plan doctors and into the care of real specialists. Also, it’s a PITA, but going to acute care helped to move the process along. Good luck.
