Not cheap but John Davenports has an incredible brunch buffet on Sundays with omelette station and a huge variety of stuff, plus great views of the city.

The carts are still at Ingalls rink, though fewer when it gets cold and rainy.

Sushi Palace on Dixwell in Hamden. All you can eat, but really good quality.

The food carts near Yale New Haven Hospital on Cedar Street.

Tandoor. Price for the lunch buffet went up pretty significantly earlier this year, unfortunately. Something like $17 or $18 now. (Used to be $4-5 cheaper.) Still delicious, though.

Oh if you’ve lived in a city before, then i think you’ll be fine. Maybe avoid Hurlburt and Spring St. if possible (last few months had a lot of activity there). Otherwise just use basic street smarts and you’ll be fine. Welcome and enjoy your time here!

understandable! i agree with the other responders here, though -- the guy who runs the place is super nice and i am happy to support him AND it's a crazy amount of food. with a side of fries (which is also massive) you can easily feed two people.
