I have no idea what that's supposed to mean. I moved to New Haven when I was 26 and lived there for 12 years. I absolutely thrived in my profession, which has nothing to do with Yale.

I moved to New Haven from Baltimore … New Haven is probably the best choice of the limited options of where to live in Connecticut, but I dream about moving back to Baltimore daily. They are not remotely comparable lifestyles.

I worked at the Wall St location when it first opened, which was also the first in New Haven, and I believe the first outside Providence.

From what I gathered at the time, Drew and his dad were both Yalies, and as another poster mentioned Drew basically was like "Why not make a democrat, progressive branded coffee shop, I bet that would work well at college towns". His dad pulls some strings and makes it happen. It's not even a bad idea, and if his dad is filthy rich and wants to take his son's idea and "teach him the ropes" who can blame him?

It looks like Drew moved away from the company in 2011, got his JD at Yale and is now the senior attorney for the Federal Reserve Board. I bet the woman in question is his Mom.

If you won’t/can’t go to East Rock where there’s a lot of good options (Atticus Market, Zoi’s, Olmo, Nica’s, Crepes Choupette, etc), then I’d recommend G Cafe on Chapel or Orange, Atticus by the art museums, Donut Crazy (solid sandwiches, nothing fancy), Book Trader. Maybe Bnatural Kitchen but never tried their breakfast items.

Grab and go downtown(ish) you’re looking at P&M, Nica’s or k&g all on orange st, the neighborhood cafe on State, B&M or Pan de Cielo 2 on Ferry, or the bagelry on Trumbull.

Edited to add either Good Nature Market (aka gourmet heaven) location.

Good. I worked at that shit hole for two weeks. Easily THE most pretentious coffee shop ive ever been to or worked for. It was literally started as a Yalie's "thesis project" or some shit. Good fucking riddance to that garbage spot
