Why is next door controversial? They make solid pizza.

If anything, pepe’s and sally’s have gone down since they went corporate. And this is me speaking as a crotchety old guy that used to wait outside in the snow for a pie.

Cheesesteak land huh. I was raised down that way too. If modern is local to you and you have a car You might try venturing just north to hamden. Elis Markert on whitney and jroos make a familiar pizza to me. both are probably about 10-12 mins from east rock or science hill area. Modern, and 163 got a lot of my pizza money when I lived in new haven.

I like Zeneli, but it reminds me of a Dallas-based chain that makes Neapolitan-style pizzas, Cane Rosso. While they're quite good, I wouldn't consider either Cane Rosso or Zeneli to be better than the main New Haven places

It’s a gym. You can get a decent climbing workout. Unfortunately, the bouldering space isn’t set up well. It’s short and opposite walls are close together (e.g. you’ll be in someone’s way who is on the wall behind you while scoping out problems). If you’re used to a more modern gym, you’ll likely be disappointed. That being said, people are super friendly and it’s the only gym I use because it’s so convenient.

I'd really like to know where they're getting steamboat from. If we're not going with Fulton's Clermont, then other leading contenders are English/French examples
