gather coffee is a cafe on state street centered around socializing with others. They host events almost every night, including social sober nights, open mic, murder mystery, trivia, and more

edit: you can also host your own event night there if you wish.

No, those are all rules that are well known to increase affordability. In some cases the unit that the rule applies to might be more expensive - for example, a taller building might have more expensive units because the apartments at the top have a better view and rent for more - but that's certainly not the usual scenario. Overall, the effect is that more apartments get built, which means there are more homes to go around. Every time a new apartment gets built (or a large apartment gets split into two apartments), it opens up an apartment for someone else.

Without requiring affordable units, lifting those rules makes housing more expensive, except when excess inventory drives the price down.

For instance, some landlords are renting rooms in apartments now instead of apartments, allowing them to get far more for the apartment than if they rented the apartment as a whole. All of those size and footprint breaks would do the same—-allow gouging in the absence of excess inventory or requirement for affordable units.

Many of New haven’s landlords are private equity funds. They’ll mug your grandmother if you aren’t looking

There are so many I wouldn't know where to start. Place 2 Be just opened but there might be kind of a wait to get in. It's known for bottomless drinks and very drunk people

Good customer service but HORRIBLY overpriced. Like 4x the price of other places. Went there for wheel bearings and rotors and was getting quoted at $2k-$3k per wheel and they try to sell you on stuff you don’t need. Said my brake pads were low when they were 6mm and you need to replace them at 1.5mm. They’re fake and try to use their customer service to sell you at absurd prices

Those are good points. But if the city truly wanted housing to be more affordable, it would just give tax breaks, allow smaller units, allow more building height/density, allow larger footprints, and/or get rid of parking minimums for all developments automatically. Housing is being kept expensive because of these rules and zoning laws.

I'm really sorry to read this. One thing I love about makehaven is that is has a very open and diverse community that breaks traditional gender norms. If you and others are not feeling comfortable there, by all means let the staff know so we don't erode this community.

While I sympathize with your situation, this "toddler has no rules" statement is absurd. Have you ever met a toddler? They don't understand the problem. Even if the parents are world class child psychologists, it takes time to teach a child anything, especially one who may understand a dozen words. Definitely a good call for you to move.

Were you with Roseann Iuvone? She’s a Trump-supporting real estate agent from East Haven that lied to us and made gross comments about my friends/neighbors. She’s held up as some local Little Italy agent and she’s not even from CT or Wooster Square, she’s a liar and racist scum. Edit: I have some unflattering screen shots, DM me if you want to see them.

Buy a cheap car cover, it's like a sock you slide over the whole car. It'll help you with privacy and laying low in residential areas. Almost no one is going to actually touch the cover to lift it and check if someone's in there. And it's also not that weird to see a car with a cover running, remote start and all. Mind your car's exhaust though.

To be honest, it’s been multiple times with multiple people who’s names I don’t know. I’m actually leaving Makehaven for a number of reasons—they are wildly disorganized, people have disrespected equipment to the point it doesn’t work, and are very glib when it comes to problems being addressed to the point that it creates a very unwelcoming environment under the guise of it being very welcome. It’s unfortunate because I was very excited to join but I have had nothing but issues (including my card being charged additional fees). It’s honestly disappointing because it’s an awesome concept.
