I love New Haven! It’s a great city, with a lively music scene and amazing restaurants and small businesses. Definitely more of a college town, so that brings in more nightlife. It’s very easy to go to NYC, just head to the train station and take the MetroNorth to Grand Central. Overall lovely area, with lots to do and places to see

The owners are lovely people! I went to their store when it was in Bridgeport and they were so welcoming and friendly! I am plus sized and got a unique long sleeved tshirt and green overall pants that fit great for a fair price. Honestly the best thrifting experiences I’ve ever had

Technically true but also not a description I would ever use to describe New Haven

Yeah, New Haven is the 69th (heh) biggest metro in the country at 862,000 people. When I bring people from big cities around, they’re shocked at how much stuff there is to do in a small area.

>52 Places to Go in 2023
>#50 New Haven, CT
> A home to tinkerers and rebels, and a treasure trove of contemporary art and architecture
>Connecticut’s third-largest city is a historic, mostly walkable and bikeable seaside town with distinctive neighborhoods, an encyclopedic collection of great American architecture, a thriving cultural life and one of the best food scenes in the country for a city of its size (134,000).
>Founded in 1638, it’s a place where people have always tinkered with, mused about, and challenged the status quo, which is why the New Haven Preservation Trust is now looking at saving the modernist buildings of the 1970s, which many see as disastrous examples of urban renewal. Discover one of the best of these brutalist concrete buildings by checking into the new Hotel Marcel, named for its architect, Marcel Breuer. Recently renovated, it’s become the first completely solar-powered, energy-neutral hotel in the United States.
>Check out NXTHVN, a cutting-edge, community-focused arts center founded in 2019 in two abandoned factory buildings in the Dixwell neighborhood that has become the heart of a vibrant African American artists’ community. And then treat yourself to a great meal—maybe crispy artichokes with Parmesan aioli and pork belly with Tuscan cabbage and apple mostarda—at the recently opened Villa Lulu.

Pardee Morris House in Morris Cove was also partially burned down during this, now it’s open during the summer for visits and have different events. It’s owned by the New Haven Historical Society.

"Attacking" is a loose term. We put out all the alcohol and they got too drunk to really do very much. Mike Allen does a piece on this on his podcast.

I use Verbling. It’s online, so not specific to New Haven, but you can choose from tutors all around the world. I love it after my first couple months. Very affordable as well. I pay $20 per 1 hour session.

Kinda disappointed at their consignment policy, only 10-15% goes back to the customer when an item sells.
