New Haven Parks & Rec hosts free open swim at Hillhouse HS Wednesdays 5-8PM & Saturday 10-2PM. They’ll typically have 1-2 lanes for lap swimmers.

Summertime there are typically 3-5 pools (Hillhouse, Cross, Conte, Martinez, Career) open to the public, same deal but open M-S.

Good bar and restaurant scene. Definitely a younger city, but a good mix of ages overall. Travel to New York is easy. Pretty good music scene. Sporting events not so much though. We don’t really have any local teams in New Haven, so the most you’ll really get is Yale home games. Because of Yale and all of the other universities in the area, everyone is very used to newcomers so making new friends and acquaintances isn’t difficult, at least in my experience. I’d recommend Trinity and Christopher Martins for pubs.

Damn. We need housing for sure, but State House is practically the only place I’ve seen regional/some national touring heavy music that’s making a stop bt NY and Boston…still got space ballroom, bee racks, and wamleg, but….

Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order.

I have checked 1,280,780,672 comments, and only 248,420 of them were in alphabetical order.

Not sure if you have access to a car but The ymca in Branford also has pools. A warm and cold competitive pool. I love it!

Try New Haven Parks & Rec. Some schools have pools and they have public swim times. You can also check with the YMCA. They have a pool on Howe.

Inclusionary zoning is a tax on developers. In other words, it raises the cost of development. That means fewer units will be built. The result of fewer units is more demand from households for each unit. The result of that is that the cost of housing is much higher than it would be otherwise.

If you're willing and comfortable with it, I'd recommend leaving a Google review for Ocean. A lot of tenants (as well as former tenants) have been doing it so people are aware of the shit conditions Ocean's properties are in, as well as to warn others about them being a shit landlord in general.

Either way, I wish you the best!
